Multiversity Casting Couch: Midnight Nation

A couple days ago, I promised a Midnight Nation casting couch. Well, it’s a bit late, but here it is! I had a bunch of stuff happen in my personal life that had to be taken care of, but here is the cast, only a few hours late.

David — Mark Valley

Somehow, Gary Frank drew a character 10 years ago that looked exactly like Mark Valley. I don’t understand it, but it works. It’s like he was a prophet. And while we’re on it, Mark Valley seems to be the go-to choice for comic-based roles. He got The Human Target; Burpee was obsessed with him being Cap; Erik Larsen told me he sees him as Savage Dragon; and now I want him as David. It’s bizarre!

Laurel — Megan Fox

Once again, Megan Fox got this role because she looks the part. Even though I don’t like her that much, she pretty much fills the part perfectly to me. I just hope she takes some acting lessons.

Lazarus — James Woods

Initially seen as The Other Guy, I then corrected this to make him Laz instead. I mean, look at them! It’s perfect. Plus James Woods is the type of character actor to definitely make this work.

The Other Guy — Christopher Eccleston

A terrific character actor best know to American audidences for his role as the woefully underutilized Claude on Heroes, Eccleston has also made his career as great operatic villains with complex pasts and motives.

Arthur — Carl Weathers

Arthur, the leader of the ragged group of Refugee’s on the other side of “The Metaphor” comes off as a working class African-American man in his 40-‘s or 50’s. He might be a little old, but Carl Weathers would be the perfect Arthur in my mind. Tough but fair, strict and compassionate, I can’t think of anyone else to play the role.

OK, that’s it! Check back next week for another casting!

Gilbert Short

Gilbert Short. The Man. The Myth. The Legend. When he's not reading comic books so you don't have to, he's likely listening to mediocre music or watching excellent television. Passionate about Giants baseball and 49ers football. When he was a kid he wanted to be The Ultimate Warrior. He still kind of does. His favorite character is Superman and he will argue with you about it if you try to convince him otherwise. He also happens to be the head of Social Media Relations, which means you should totally give him a follow onTwitter.

Welcome back to Casting Couch! After an extended break I’ve returned, and today I’m kicking off the new wave of Casting Couches with a look at Josh Williamson and Mike Henderson’s “Nailbiter,” from Image Comics. While many comics today get picked up and adapted left and right, “Nailbiter” is the type of book that seems […]
