Multiversity Comics Birthday Extravaganza: Matt’s Super Duper EIC MC Greatest Hits Playlist

Well, now that the “official” birthday post is over, I thought I’d throw my two cents in on this whole 1 year anniversary thing. Originally, I was going to do absolutely nothing. I’ve been here a year, and yes the site is drastically different, but it didn’t seem enough for me to want to sit down and do anything for it. What that basically translates to is: by the time you’re reading this, I’m going to be on a sunny beach in Florida, chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool and all (and perhaps shooting some b-ball outside of a school, assuming I can find one). That’s right – I’m going on vacation! It just so happens that my vacation coincided with the one year anniversary of the site, so now my vacation (which already was to celebrate how much work I’ve done in the past year) is now additionally my celebration for all the hard work I did with this site over the past year.

Obviously I didn’t do it alone though. The site started off as my blog (and named after an as-of-yet-announced Grant Morrison comic book – and as a side note, Multiversity Comics should really be the name of a comic book STORE, not a comic book SITE, shouldn’t it?), but it soon became a spot for me and Gil to post about comics. Eventually, David started reading it as well (due to Gil showing the site off), and before long David had joined in to write. Fast forward a few months and we got Brandon as well, and now we’re the Fantastic Four of the website (except for Brandon, who is Rainbow Raider).

It’s been a long journey, though. I’m sure throughout the weekend and perhaps the week, the other guys will show off some fun things. There will be a Spoiler Alert podcast that may or may not mention the anniversary – we haven’t decided. And I know for a fact that, at the time that I am writing this, Gil is planning something he won’t tell me that is supposed to be cool, and David and Brandon are going to get drunk on camera again and probably make fun of me or not mention me because I’m too busy hanging out with Mickey Mouse at Disney to pick up a phone call. I’m such a jerk!

So I thought it would be kind of fun for me to go through the past year and pick out some of my favorite articles, or articles that mean something to me. As a note, I basically stole this idea from David who said he wanted to do an article discussing our most popular posts, at which point I said, “Rarara, I am the supreme commander, I will steal this idea and morph it to my own ideas!” So without further ado, here is my very own playlist of “Multiversity Comics’ Greatest Hits.” I’ll also put in some ‘director’s commentary’ so you can get some humorous little stories behind some of your favorite articles (one in particular makes me chuckle a lot).

The first ever post – this is self explanatory. This is the first post I ever did, which defines the site’s birthday now. There is absolutely nothing to the post, but it does serve as a record of the beginning. So that’s neat?

X-Men Origins: Wolverine review – this is the first REAL post. In fact, this was the reason I started the blog. In all honesty, I just wanted a place to rant about the Wolverine film. I am one of the very few people who did not hate it, and I’m ok with that fact. I went to the movie with relatively low expectations and I was entertained by it. What bugged me, though, was the LEGIONS of fanboys who were freaking out about Deadpool – and this was BEFORE Deadpool had fifty million books on the market. I had followed the production fairly closely, so I understood why the changes to Deadpool were made, and because of this I wasn’t bothered by it. Yet, for whatever fanboy nerdrage reason, I just couldn’t fathom why other people didn’t get it and were being such sticklers about it, even after I’d explained it a million times to people in person. Writing a rant about it on the internet seemed the only plausible option.

Really, this was all brought on by endless dialogues with someone that I used to know and see at a comic book store on a regular basis, who was known for saying stupid things in related to comic books, such as “The only good comic book Marvel is putting out right now is Deadpool.” Feh.

The first Wednesday Is New Comic Book Day – This isn’t particularly special. It was just the first Wednesday reviews I ever did. Back then, I was on my own, and would review about 20 books a week on my own (this particular post has 19, but who’s counting? Nowadays, we do about 17 books a week – 4 per person and 1 book of the week. That doesn’t include advance reviews, though, so sometimes it’s more, and on occasion one of us will go the extra mile and review an extra book or two. It depends how busy we are or how much we love/hate a book.

It’s funny though – David and I had at one point agreed to split the duties, and he had one week where he did all the main reviews. I read his, said, “Oh hey, he forgot this, this, and this,” and did an extra twenty or so reviews on my own. We were so crazy back then! Wow!

That’s also the origin story of the order within the WINCBD posts: I started doing reviews, then David joined, then Gil, then Brandon. That’s literally the only reason. It has nothing to do with my reviews being the best!

The first Friday Recommendation, for Immortal Iron Fist – There are a lot of firsts on this list, so bear with me. I have NO idea where the idea of Friday Rec came from. I think I just wanted an excuse to write about Iron Fist, which I had been reading a lot of at the time (in trade, I don’t have the single issues). It was still on-going at the time, and I just thought it was this amazing book by Fraction and Brubaker, so I said, “Man, I should start a weekly article where I recommend a great on-going book!”

WAIT A MINUTE – That’s where it came from! Of course! Silly me. Watch me as I write out my stream of conscious thought: I used to write for my friends video game blog. Back then, the only way I made sure I wrote weekly was to set up a weekly article on Mondays. I slowly played less and less video games, and now I am no longer a part of that, but my idea stemmed from that as I wanted a weekly article besides reviews to make sure I updated the blog more than once a week. My initial plan was one review article, one rec article, and one news article. That’s a helluva lot different now, isn’t it?

So yes, Friday Rec was initially only supposed to be recommending on-goings. Then I recommended Bone because Bone is amazing, and now it’s a free for all article that only I and I think Walt enjoy writing.

Gil’s first article – Another first! This is, obviously, the first article Gil ever wrote. Gil didn’t write as much as he does now back then, and his articles were often opinionated articles, such as this and about how awesome Gary Frank is. Either way, it’s adorable to read.

David’s first article – David joined in at the end of May, and his idea was to write an article about books that were underrated that more people should be out purchasing. This was supposed to be a weekly article, but obviously that didn’t pan out. Now he does Small Press Spotlight with Steve! Totally different articles, really.

Basically, David joined because he was an outside perspective to mine that I didn’t trust, and I thought that would be interesting. Gil and I meshed on a lot of our comic book loves (except his excessive love for Supes), but David I knew nothing about, really. I knew he liked books I liked, but he also liked books I’d never heard of and I’m pretty sure he has more comics than me (I’m 90% positive on that one because he kept all the comics he had when he was a kid, and I sold all my old Wolverine vs Cyber comics, which I highly regret now). So when he said he’d be interested in doing MC, I knew it would be a good idea if only for diversity, and you can’t spell Multiversity without versity.

Somewhere in the back of my brain, that makes sense.

Author Retrospective: Brian Michael Bendis – the only reason I’m posting this is because a) I’m fairly proud of the work that went into writing this and b) the line at the end is funny. At the end, I speculate what it would take to get an interview with him. Heh. More on that later.

The “New Bone” Announcement Article which led to the Tom Sniegoski interview – We didn’t used to cover a lot of news – just things we thought were cool. We’re all fans of Bone (now… way to miss the ball on that one, Gil!), so one day David posted a little article about a new Bone book that had been announced, to be written by Tom Sniegoski. Little known to us, Sniegoski actually read Multiversity (HI TOM!), and he left a comment for us. This led to us (David) e-mailing Tom, and us getting our first interview. How about that, eh?

As far as I remember, that time line is kinda skewed. I actually believe the first interview was with Brian Clevinger, writer of Atomic Robo, but we didn’t get our replies back from him before Sniegoski’s, so Sniegoski wins! Take that, Robo!

The first “Saturday” Showdown – We had no Saturday Showdown back then, and we barely do now, but we did at one point think it would be fun to write articles where we argue and debate. This was the first one, and it was the precursor to what would become Saturday Showdown. Basically, this article is us arguing about which Crisis was best. I’m particularly proud of what I wrote here, because it sure was a mouthfull. I don’t know who won this battle, though.

Mocle’s first article – You know him from your favorite podcast – I say Mocle, most of us say “Josh,” but whatever you want to call him – this was actually his first article. He’s a staff writer now, but at the time it was VERY hard to get him to write because he was busy a lot of the time. He wrote this, then he stopped writing, and you know why he came back? To write about Phonogram again after the book officially ended with issue 7 of volume 2.

Yeah. Mocle loves Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie. Well, he loves music, and he loves comics, so for Gillen and McKelvie to accurately combine the two… you get it.

My Friday Recommendation of Planetary – This is just an article I’m really proud of. Planetary #27 had been announced, so I read all the book before the release in preparation. I was that excited to read the final issue. With the book almost out and my turn up at Friday Rec, I wrote a proverbial mouthful about the book, and I’m really proud of this recommendation. I know for a fact that it worked, too, because it got my friend Geoff to read the book, who then texted me and told me that this was everything he had ever wanted in a comic.

I still haven’t convinced my girlfriend to read this though. Some day…

Multiversity Comics DOT COM – In September of last year, I decided, “You know what? This is fun. Let’s do it hardcore.” I threw down money for a domain and got us some fancy e-mail addresses, and we became a real website as opposed to just a blog about comics. Being a real website is way better.

The Twitter List – This thing… I don’t remember fully where the idea came from. For whatever reason, I thought sitting down and writing out a list of all the comic people I knew on twitter would be a good idea. What ended up happening was our first major site hit from the public. We’d been getting steady numbers up until then, but when Geoff Johns, Brian Bendis, Agent M, and countless others all retweeted the list, and people started commenting on our site like crazy to get added, and e-mails started pouring in my inbox with additional names and people who wanted to be on the list, that’s basically when it all “started happening” in my mind. Thank god we were a dot com by then, because if we were a blog that would have just looked unprofessional!

Continued below

Now, another website has stolen this idea from us and made a much better list. I won’t name them or anything, but curse them!

Brandon’s first article – in the aftermath of the Twitter post, we realized we had reached a brand new audience who were all waiting with baited breath to see what we would do. To me, that meant we could mine for new writers! We got two and kept one – Brandon Burpee. Turns out David knew some kid who liked making videos in his home about comic books, and I had plenty of ideas of what to do with a video nerd so we brought him in. When he first arrived, I told him what I expected from him, and as I always do with newbies, I told him to do a character spotlight. He did one for Maggott. Now he’s one of the biggest members of our staff. Don’t know how that worekd out…

Francis Manapul interview – This happened RIGHT at the time Adventure Comics came out, and it was a pretty big deal. We were all HUGE fans of Manapul’s art, and we knew that he’d be doing Flash too, so this was almost like an “exclusive” interview.

That’s not why I picked this, though. The reason I picked this is because due to one of our questions, we ended up nudging someone the wrong way! Basically, our comment to Manapul about not drawing scantily clad Top Cow characters upset the big man on campus over at Top Cow, Filip Sablik. Not to the point where he wanted to burn our house down, but at least to the point where he wanted to comment on it – and comment on it he did! In a rather stern little essay, he pointed out that everyone draws women kind of sexist at times, and the whole thing led to us (David) contacting him, interviewing him, and through that we started getting Top Cow press releases and solicits. Top Cow is the first company we’ve gotten to actively work with, and that was a pretty big deal for us. They were the first company to see the potential in us, I suppose, and we have a good relationship with them now.

That’s not to say we’d never been noticed before. We got some funny press once or twice, such as me getting quoted by BOOM! Studios for one of my reviews of Irredeemable. But Top Cow and their adding us to their press list… that was and is a big deal. It was and is awesome. And it’s all because of the Francis Manapul interview! Hooah!

Saturday Showdown: Mouse Guard vs Mice Templar – I picked this because this was when we actively did Saturday Showdown, and this led to two things:

For David, all his words about Mouse Guard led him to eventually get to sit down and interview the creator, as well as cultivate a relationship with the publisher of the book. You can talk to David about that, or search our site for all our wonderful Archaia reviews or the David Peterson interview that David did when Peterson was in Alaska.

For me, it meant an RT on Twitter and a thumbs up from the writer and artist of the book! Which, to be perfectly honest, is 100% amazing to me, because Mice Templar rocks.

The first Burpee’s Got You Covered – I’ll be honest – I don’t think Brandon knows this, but Burpee’s Got You Covered is one of my favorite articles. It’s got a clever title, a great premise, and is consistently good. And this was the first one.

His taste in art has improved, I swear.

MURDER BURGER! – This is not really a special article in any way. I’m just a huge fan of the internet comic/meme Murder Burger, because it’s hilarious. I just wanted to re-share this.

Friday Rec: X-Statix – Again, I present to you a Brandon Burpee article. I like this article for two reasons:

1. This is when Brandon actually cared and liked doing Friday Recs, and it was awesome. Now he tells me hates doing them, so I finally stopped asking for them, but this one was so good that it led to,

Continued below

2. I actually went out and bought all of X-Static and the X-Force stuff Mulligan and Allred did. I mean, whenever one of the guys writes about a book I don’t know on the site, I try and go out and get it, but on my own time. No rush. With this, I rushed. I’ve got it all, and it’s all Burpee’s fault! I’m also a pretty big Allred nerd now, though not as big as him. I’ve got my copy of Madman Gigantua, and I’ll be getting iZombie, and it’s all due to this.

Which, I suppose in retrospect, should make me hate Burpee, because now I have to purchase more comics! Note to self: fire Burpee….

The Brian Bendis interview – 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 – As you can see, this is a HUGE interview. That’s mainly because it was a HUGE deal to me.

Here’s the story: one evening, Bendis decided to have question time on his twitter account. He RT’d everyone and responded to all the ridiculous questions, so I asked if he’d do an MC interview. He said yes, I got his e-mail, and we arranged it.

Here’s the backstory to why I even bothered: The whole reason that I am as into comic books as I am today is all because of Brian Bendis. As I said in the actual article of the Author Retrospective, there was a period of time between when I was a kid and when I was a young adult when peer pressure got to me and I stopped buying as many comics as I used to (I think two on-goings total). One day, Josh introduced me to a comic called Ultimate Spider-Man, and from there I was hooked. Everything about it spoke to me, and it was all because of Bendis. Eventually, I started checking out more books by him and others, and now I have an excessive collection of comics… and it’s all his fault!

So essentially, me taking this site from a blog where I wanted to rant about the Wolverine movie to a website where I got to sit and talk to Brian Bendis for an hour? That was pretty freaking fantastic.

Friday Rec: Ultimate Spider-Man – this goes hand in hand with the previous set, but obviously Ultimate Spider-Man was a huge deal to me and my comic book nerddom, so I wrote out a nice little Ultimate Spidey Friday Rec. I enjoy it.

The Kieron Gillen interview – As I’ve pointed out, Josh and I are HUGE fans of Kieron Gillen. We both adore Phonogram, and had been slowly following his career in Marvel, which at the time meant an Ares and Beta Ray Bill mini (both of which were great). So one day David e-mails us and tells us that he got an interview with Kieron Gillen, and Mocle and I just about flipped out. We came up with a ton of weird questions for him, and I love his answers.

Gillen is also the only creator we’ve ever interviewed who I actively feel comfortable with e-mailing just to say hello as opposed to when I want something. I don’t know why that is. Probably because of his accent.

Multiversity 2.0 – At this point, we were hitting maybe 500 people a day? And by hitting, I mean they were hitting us. You get it. Either way, it was time for a change. So we got in touch with this guy named Sergei who David knew who designed a new site for us through my meticulous and often weird looking scribbles on paper. This was a huge change for us, though. I can barely remember what the site looked like before, but it wasn’t as snazzy as this. And the new site design only increased hits, so it all worked out for the best! Hooray for everyone!

Walt’s first article – With the launch of our new site design, this meant I was going to pull in new readers, and this meant I could once again fish for new writers. Once again, we got two and kept one. Walt was the one that we kept, and he has since become a big part of the inner circle of MC – or at least mine. You can expect a lot from Walt in the future, because he’s awesome, and this is his first article – a character spotlight on the second Quesiton, Renee Montoya.

Continued below

Yeah, I thought it was a weird character to choose too.

Crit’s first LOST review – Crit is my secret weapon. He’s been one of my best friends for a long time now, and for whatever reason he has a big internet following. I don’t quite get it, and neither does he. It probably has to do with him being such a class act guy. Either way, him and I have been getting toegether once a week for a couple years now to watch LOST, and I thought – hey! Crit has fangirls, and people like LOST… I should combine these two elements! And boom – 700 hits per post! Easy money!

What I’m going to do with Crit after LOST ends, I have no clue… but I welcome suggestions. We’ve thought of selling nude posed calendars.

Steve’s first article – Funny story about Steve. A looong time ago, with one of the first two writer searches, Steve contacted me about doing something for the site along the ideas of Small Press Spotlight before that article existed. I told him what I expected from writers of the site, and just like that – poof! He disappeared. Didn’t hear from him for a long time. Then, after 2.0 launched, Steve contacted us again and apologized for his disappearance, but said that he’d love to still write for us. I decided, “Feh, this isn’t gonna pan out!” So I told him to talk to David, becuase SPS was his thing, and one thing led to another – now Ponzo owns that article. Proved me wrong! Of course, Steve (and Crit, I guess) is the only frequent updater who is not staff, only because I’m not nailing him to the wall to do additional articles and Friday Recs. Maybe some day…

The first 4 Color News And Brews – This is not the actual first 4 Color News and Brews. The first real video will never be seen by the internet (probably), as it was literally an hour long video of David and Brandon horrendously drunk, making faces, mispronouncing names (well, they still do that…), and it ended with David leaving Brandon on the floor as Brandon screamed that he was tie-tie. I have no idea what it means, but that video is amazingly funny.

The video linked here, though, is the first podcast that was passable! They’re going through their own little re-writes and re-formatting, but this was the first big push into the digital millenium for Multiversity outside of Twitter because now we get to acquire fans on YouTube! It’s a clever little scheme. Either way, the two of them make a good couple.

Multiversity 101: Comic Book Piracy – At one point, David tried to launch an article called M101, where he looked at industry trends and analyzed things in a specific nature. Warren Ellis smacked him down, and eventually David let loose of the article. I decided to snatch it up and write a weekly article analyzing comic books and what I like and what I don’t. For my first article I decided to do one about Piracy, and boy did this blow up. It got ridiculously noticed by people I didn’t think would notice it, and it made Ron Marz like me! And Ron Marz hates everyone (on Twitter, anyway). This got a good deal of positive feedback though, and I was glad that people enjoyed it.

Crisis of Chronology: The DCU According to Grant Morrison – This is Walt’s first really big article, and good God is that guy ridiculous! This one not so much, but later CoC’s getting very long and very into it, with lists I can’t even begin to know how he compiles. Of course, his first one was a tribute to good old Morrison, which is entirely appropriate for the site. And as a fanboy of Morrison, I of course include this on my best of list.

The first episode of Spoiler Alert – This is the first time Mocle and I sat down in my living room to discuss comic books in front of a microphone. Only problem was, we didn’t sit down together. We did it over Skype, and it’s not very good. On top of that, this is the podcast with the now infamous “eating.” See, while we were recording, I hadn’t had dinner, so every time Mocle spoke, I ate. Of course, I didn’t realize that my microphone was so damn good that you could hear me chewing and picking at my bowl of stir fry while Mocle was pontificating, so afterwords David and Brandon (who are apparently experts in podcasting now) reemed me out over eating, because it was highly unprofessional of me. This, of course, became a recurring joke to the point where he when OTHER podcasts talk about us, they make fun of us for the same thing! (Thanks Non-Canonical – we love you too, mates!) Of course, now we’re organized, have guests, and eat just to piss David and Brandon off, so it’s all good.

Continued below

Multiversity 101: The Event – 1, 2, and 3 – This is a three part article I wrote deconstructing the event and what works and what doesn’t. I really wasn’t enjoying Blackest Night by this point, and I was trying to figure out why I was so out of this book when I was a Geoff Johns fanboy before this. After writing a lot and comparing and contrasting, this is what came out.

Plus, I wanted to say how awesome Annihilation was.

The first contest – We don’t have a lot of contests. Well, we don’t have any. But THIS time we did, and it went well! We teamed up with Archaia and David Peterson to give away a signed copy of Mouse Guard, and all the user had to do was name the podcast. 4 Color News and Brews was the eventual winner, obviously (although it wasn’t my pick – no offense!), but it was really just cool to do a contest. Apparently there will be more.

Multiversity at ECCC, plus the second Bendis interview, Mike Allred and Len Wein – this was the first con we ever attended as Multiversity Comics, with business cards and whatnot. And by we, I mean Brandon and David. They flew out from Alaska to Seattle, had a terrific time, and rubbed it in me and Gil’s noses that Bendis likes them more. This was also one of the first times we realized how big we are getting because people recognized our site name, which is awesome. It was also when we cultivated some new relationships with other comic book companies, so that’s awesome too!

David is a bastard forever – This is just plain funny.

Gil, Walt and I tackle Batman in three articles: The Short Report, Multiversity 101 and Crisis of Chronology – the way this came about is amusing to me. I like Batman, but I also hate Batman. One day, I decided to write a whole M101 about it. Walt saw this and decided to do a Crisis of Chronology on Batman. Gil saw THAT and decided to do his own Short Report about Batman! So there were THREE Batman articles in the span of very little time, all coinciding with one another by accident.

That’s not all. My entire article was written to talk about how much I disliked Batman with the hopes that I would get angry e-mails and comments that I could then argue with people over. I didn’t get any. Instead, most people thought it was an intelligent and interesting look at Batman’s history and evolution as a character. I fail as a writer.

Multiversity turns into a shit show: Understanding Grant Morrison – This is the first time we really got heated and ugly in the comments. This guy comes along, takes stabs at my writing style because I don’t write certain things he expects, and begins hounding us on Twitter. I chose to ignore it, David convinced me otherwise, and it just became an epic shit show of a comment section where this kid and all of his friends decided to come and bash on me. He did it on his web page too, but I don’t think he realizes that I was sent a link to that.

That’s fine. I’m ok with people hating me. Maybe this wasn’t the best article I ever wrote, sure. I obviously didn’t get my point across. But at the end of the day, when Grant Morrison calls his own work “trippy” in an interview with MTV’s Splash Page, I can’t help but laugh quietly to myself.

April Fool’s! – We had nothing planned for April Fool’s. I really wanted to do something, but we were all being uncreative. Then, on my drive to work, I came up with this crazy brilliant idea for a prank. I got to work, immediately wrote it instead of doing my job, and posted it. I thought I was so funny!

An hour or so later, I get an e-mail from David. He tells me he took the article down because he thought I was inappropriate. In the original article, I had directly quoted Bendis and Johns, but obviously the quotes were fake. David was worried that perhaps by doing this, we would insult the two and in turn get black listed from ever cultivating a relationship with DC and Marvel. I edited the post, grumbling quietly to myself, and took out any quotes, posting it back up.

Continued below

Later on that day, we found a link from another site that had an April Fool’s Day Prank directly quoting Grant Morrison, and later on various websites (including MTV, which was huge) linked to my April Fool’s Day joke.

That’s not what I love about this, though. Later on in the day, I e-mailed David and the gang this:

Click for higher resolution

Words can not describe how happy it made me that I actually got away with a Fresh Prince joke on April Fool’s day. Thank you, David. You’re my favorite!

And yes, I do have the unedited version on my computer. I couldn’t just part with it, because my favorite joke in it featured the line “said Johns, taking a massive gulp from his Slurpee.” Teehee.

Gil goes to WonderCon – Gil went to WonderCon on his own and accomplished a LOT. We’re still working through all the contacts that he made there! It was a massive achievement for him and I thought it was awesome all the stuff he got done. In fact, there was one thing so exciting that he called us all about it (which you can read about it in this entry).

Long story short: Gil is Multiversity Comics’ Superman.

Matt and Mocle go to Boston ComicCon – JH Williams III, Cameron Stewart, Arting – Mocle and I notoriously had a bad time at BCC. We’ve stated this a lot. However, what little we did get to do out of our massively planned day was pretty awesome! JH Williams III was a great guy to talk to (although he didn’t tell us about the Batwoman on-going, which was announced two days later!), and Cameron Stewart hung out with Mocle and I for a bit and was a stand up gent. While we didn’t have fun overall, those two made the day worth it in my opinion.

Multiversity becomes a shit show again: Hate Mail – for my last favorite article, this is the second to last Hate Mail where once again, that guy and his friends returned to the site. I think it’s pretty funny to read the comments here because, aside from the fact that I haven’t decided if I fully agree with Mocle on all of his comments, it is HILARIOUS to me to see Mocle so effectively be a douche bag on the internet and get a rise out of people over such stupid things when in all reality, Mocle is basically a huge teddy bear. Honestly, he’s one of the nicest guys I know. And for Hate Mail, which was started as a humorous joke in order for Mocle to rant about things I don’t like in an overly aggressive way, to actually get a rise out of people? Mission freakin’ accomplished!

So there you have it. Those are some of my favorite articles that we’ve posted over the past year in chronological order. As the founder of this website and loving owner, I can honestly say that Multiversity is one of my favorite parts to any day. I love writing on the site and updating, and I love working with the guys here. It’s been a lot of fun, and I can only hope for bigger and better things through out the year. If I can accomplish one of my bigger goals in under a year, I know that the sky is barely even the limit for this site and those of us who collaborate.

So thank you to David, Brandon, Gil, Walt, and Mocle for all working as hard as I do to keep this site awesome. Well, not so much Mocle, but if I didn’t thank him, he’d probably cry about it later. And to all the people who at one time collaborated on the site or had a guest article, thanks for joining in on the fun!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a vacation to enjoy! Huzzah!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
