The fifth day of our March Madness tourney, called The Tweet Off, is here, and with it an entirely new round. We’re figuring out who the best comic person is on Twitter, and we’re going to have the highly scientific method of ranking our 32 favorites by Twitter followers, and then having you the reader vote alongside both of us to decide each winner. Both Matt and David will be voting as well, with each day’s winners being announced the next day. The winner gets our love and adoration, and gets to move on to the next round. Lucky them.

We’re to our second round, and we’ll be breaking down the two remaining match ups in two brackets today.

Let’s get to the match-ups.

(8) Jamie S. Rich (@JamieESRich) vs. (5) Ron Marz (@RonMarz)

Followers: 1,525 for Rich, 10,816 for Marz

Their Work: Rich is responsible for such awesome books as It Girl and the Atomics and You Have Killed Me, he’s an excellent film reviewer and knows more about Criterion Collections than we probably know about anything, and he mobilized his Jamie S. Rich army enough to slay the mighty beast that is Neil Gaiman in the popular vote. Meanwhile, Marz is a giant in the field, responsible for many classic comics, new classics in the making, and he brings it real each and every day on Twitter. Respect.

(6) Faith Erin Hicks (@FaithErinHicks) vs. (2) Scott Snyder (@SSnyder1835)

Followers: 7,825 for Hicks, 39,251 for Snyder

Their Work: Hicks is a brilliant cartoonist, responsible for such works as Friends With Boys and the upcoming Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong. She’s also ridiculously adorable on Twitter and had probably my favorite response to her matchup being announced. Snyder is the dude who writes Batman, Superman Unchained, American Vampire…yada yada yada – he does A LOT – and he’s also probably the highest profile person in comics who is also a complete and utter class act. Dude is nice.

(8) Jennifer de Guzman (@Jennifer_deG) vs. (5) Jeff Parker (@JeffParker)

Followers: 1,695 for de Guzman, 10,063 for Parker

Their Work: de Guzman is the PR & Marketing Director over at Image Comics, and she is like Wolverine – she’s the best there is at what she does. She’s also a seasoned vet of the industry, and knows more about comics than any of can pretend to know. Parker on the other hand was the once and future King Astronaut, the dude who makes Dark Avengers and Red She Hulk tick, and some day – SOME DAY – will anger the entirety of the industry with some digital comic that is terribly upsetting.

(6) Chris Burnham (@TheBurnham) vs. (7) Brandon Graham (@royalboiler)

Followers: 8.028 for Burnham, 6,419 for Graham

Their Work: Chris Burnham is the man who makes Batman Incorporated as freaking awesome as it is (along with Grant Morrison, of course). He also is tremendously entertaining on Twitter, as you can see below. Graham is the writer and sometimes artist of Image’s Prophet, and he builds worlds like I…well, shit. I can’t really build much. Thanks for making me feel bad Brandon.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
