Here at Multiversity, we like to celebrate our Jewishness from time to time. Let’s face it – we don’t get to do it very often! But when we do, we might as well go all out, right? So for the Eight Nights of Hanukkah, we are going to present to you a Jewish super hero or villain that we greatly appreciate here at Multiversity Comics.

For the fourth night, we’ve picked: Sabra

Not only one of the most visually Jewish super heroes ever created (except this guy), Ruth Bat-Seraph is also the only Israeli national super-hero who also happens to be an ex-super spy AND a mutant! Talk about specificity!

While not appearing all that often, with each appearance we learn a little bit more about her, about her powers and about the political state of the Marvel Universe’s State of Israel (which as it turns out, is not too far removed from our Israeli situation as Sabra’s son was killed off panel by suicide bomber.) While occasionally appearing as an ally of both The Incredible Hulk and of the X-Men, Sabra stands read to defend the state of Israel against any and all combatants.

Appearing sporadically throughout the years, some of Sabra’s most recent appearances include as an ally of Union Jack in Union Jack Vol. 2 #’s 1-4 by Cristos Gage as well as one crucial issue of New X-Men (#132 to be precise) by Grant Morrison and her very own Marvel Digital Exclusive Comic – Astonishing Tales: Sabra

Stalk him out on twitter and thought grenade.
