Saturday Morning Panels (Week of 9/4/2013)

Hello, and welcome to Saturday Morning Panels, your new favorite Multiversity column! It’s a very simple concept: since none of us are up to watching Saturday morning cartoons anymore, we are instead going to share with you our favorite panels from the week before. It’s a bit like Comics Should Be Cheap, except with more pictures and less reading.

And, of course, spoilers are probably abundant.

We encourage you to play along at home and let us know what your favorite moments of the week were in the comment section! In the meantime, our picks:

Matt’s Pick “Chew” #36

This is a no brainer, people. POYO!

James’ Pick: “All New X-Men” #16

It was only a couple months until the tenth anniversary of New X-Men #150. So close to receiving your ten year button, Jean.

Vince’s Pick: “Trillium” #2

I guess I’m just a sucker for Jeff Lemire written scenes where someone’s head gets blown open with their own thoughts. (See my “Green Arrow” #22 pick from Saturday Morning Panels 7/3/2013)

David’s Pick: “Superior Foes of Spider-Man” #3

I think I speak for the world when I say that we don’t care about Silvermane as a character. He’s a character who will always exist as some guy who fit really strangely into my awesome 90’s Marvel card sets, in-between Dr. Doom and Magneto but never really on par with them. Somehow, Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber made me care about Silvermane. Somehow, they made me want to read a comic about a family where Silvermane befriended a kid and got a new body that was actually just being in the bed of a remote controlled monster truck. Somehow, I learned to like Silvermane.

And then they pulled the rug out from under my feet. @#%^#$!$%@$.

Michelle’s Pick: “Hit” #1

If this book were any more noir it’d be following you down the street in sharp suit and asking you for a light. This sequence gets bonus points for excellent use of venetian blinds.

The More Scottish David’s Pick: “Batman: Black and White” #1

You know, there were a lot of really great panels from “Batman: Black And White”, but none of them really hit home like this one did. I miss the big guy.
