Hello, and welcome to Saturday Morning Panels! It’s a very simple concept: since none of us are up to watching Saturday morning cartoons anymore, we are instead going to share with you our favorite panels from the week before. It’s a bit like Comics Should Be Cheap, except with more pictures and less reading.
And, of course, spoilers are probably abundant.
We encourage you to play along at home and let us know what your favorite moments of the week were in the comment section! In the meantime, our picks:
“AXIS” #2: No strudel. – James Johnston
“Batman and Robin” #35: Family is important. Even family of the bovine persuasion. – Keith Dooley
“Batman and Robin” #35: I’d be over the moon if Tim Drake went back to wearing the mantle of Robin. A boy can dream. – Keith Dooley
“Deadly Class” #8: There’s a lot I want to share from “Deadly Class” #8 because it was an amazing issue of an amazing series. Instead, however, I will share just the first panel — because the more you stare at it, the better it gets. – Matthew Meylikhov
“Deadpool’s Art of War” #1: I totally read this in Butthead’s voice. – Vince Ostrowski
“Edge of Spider-Verse” #5: I never thought I’d live to see the day where Japanese Daredevil throws down with Kaneda from “Akira,” and yet here we are. – Matthew Meylikhov
“Futures End” #24: Superman can. Because he mixes it with punches and heat vision (and pecs) and makes the world all good. – Keith Dooley
“Green Lantern: New Guardians: #35: I’ve been woefully behind on my Green Lantern reading, but decided to get back onboard with the “Godhead” storyline. I can’t get enough of the New Gods. And Kyle Rayner is truly a hero, as evidenced here. – Keith Dooley
“Justice League” #35: …says Clark, with a knowing smile. – Keith Dooley
“The Life After” #4: Fucking a sheep. Stealing a sheep. Same thing, really. – Leo Johnson
“Lumberjanes” #7: This is me when I have deadlines approaching. – Matthew Garcia
“Lumberjanes” #7: I’m right there with you, Jedidiah. I mean, Jen. (Honestly, “Lumberjanes” was the only book in my pull this week, but these twists more than made up for the lack of titles released for me.) – Matthew Garcia
“Manifest Destiny” #11: Why does no one talk about Manifest Destiny? It has Meriwether Lewis shirtless and stabbing a giant frog monster. That is exactly what comics were invented for, I’m pretty sure. – Leo Johnson
“Ms. Marvel” #9: As the owner of four kitties myself, I can confirm: this never works. – Matthew Meylikhov
“New Avengers” #25: Ooohhhh. – Matthew Meylikhov
“Q2: The Return of Quantum and Woody” #1: “Q2” unfortunately did not live up to my wildest dreams and hopes and expectations, but there were still quite a few great little moments that re-iterated why the classic run of the series was such a monumental and memorable one. – Matthew Meylikhov
“Superior Foes of Spider-Man” #16: *cue Benny Hill theme music here* – Matthew Meylikhov
“Supreme: Blue Rose” #4: I could post a dozen or more panels of gorgeous Tula Lotay art from each of these issues, but I think I’ll go with the most startling one. – Vince Ostrowski
“Teen Titans” #3: I’m on Team Rocafort all the way. – Keith Dooley
“Trees” #6: You guys might want to get a different room. Especially with a perverted drone looking on at ya. – Keith Dooley
“Turok – Dinosaur Hunter” #8: Comics are the best because they can put Genghis Khan, dinosaurs, and terror birds in the middle of Illinois in the 1200s and it all makes sense in a weird way. – Leo Johnson
