Hello, and welcome to Saturday Morning Panels, your new favorite Multiversity column! It’s a very simple concept: since none of us are up to watching Saturday morning cartoons anymore, we are instead going to share with you our favorite panels from the week before. It’s a bit like Comics Should Be Cheap, except with more pictures and less reading.
And, of course, spoilers are probably abundant.
We encourage you to play along at home and let us know what your favorite moments of the week were in the comment section! In the meantime, our picks:
Matthew’s Pick: “Young Avengers” #15
“And in the end, the love you take
Is equal to the love you make”
– “The End” by the Beatles
Looking forward to “The Wicked & The Devine”, fellas.
James’ Pick: Also “Young Avengers” #15
“And if I made a fool, if I made a fool, if I made fool
On the road, there’s always this.
And if I’m sewn into submission
I can still come home to this.”
– “All My Friends” by LCD Soundsystem
Thanks for the ride Gillen, McKelvie, and company. Thanks for the comic that defined my last year of high school/first year of college, gave me lessons I didn’t know I needed, playlists I knew I did, and somehow made the discography of LCD Soundsystem even more loaded for me than before. Onto 2014, “The Wicked and the Divine” and “Loki: Agent of Asgard!”
David Harper’s Pick: Also “Young Avengers” #15
Awwww. I’m going to miss this book, and this cast gets a pretty much perfect farewell in this Instagram photo Loki shared. So much sadness. So much missing of this book.
David Henderson’s Pick: “Black Widow” #1
So, not only was this the Black Widow comic I’ve been waiting for for years, but it also featured some of the most stunning art I’ve ever seen from Phil Noto. I really thought Noto created a unique visual style for the book that played nicely into Edmondson’s epsionage writing and action scenes.
Vince’s Pick: “Prison Pit” v5
That Johnny Ryan is one delightfully demented cartoonist. I’m guessing he would probably agree?
