Hello, and welcome to Saturday Morning Panels, your new favorite Multiversity column! It’s a very simple concept: since none of us are up to watching Saturday morning cartoons anymore, we are instead going to share with you our favorite panels from the week before. It’s a bit like Comics Should Be Cheap, except with more pictures and less reading.
And, of course, spoilers are probably abundant.
We encourage you to play along at home and let us know what your favorite moments of the week were in the comment section! In the meantime, our picks:
Matthew’s Pick: “Nova” #14
I knew Gerry Duggan was the right man to start writing “Nova!” I mean, sure, I would’ve admittedly been fine with Loeb or Wells continuing their runs, but look: COSMO! All is well, yes? All is good!
James’ Pick: “Loki, Agent of Asgard” #2
This kind of loses the impact when it’s by itself, but having the climax of “Journey into Mystery” #645 be reduced to this grotesque/adorable image is the funniest thing in the world to me. Thanks for ruining a classic for me in the best possible way, “Agent of Asgard” team.
David Harper’s Pick: “Starlight” #1
INFINITE SADNESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. INFINITE SADNESSSSSSSSS. Goran Parlov makes me soooooo sadddddddddd. But you know, in a good way. There was a real sense of mourning throughout this issue, and it’s thanks to the work of Millar and Parlov that we connect with it instead of getting pushed away. Amazing work.
David Henderson’s Pick: “Magneto” #1
I was inexplicably excited for “Magneto” 01 and then I inexplicably enjoyed “Magneto” 01, but this? This was undoubtedly badass. I’m here for the long haul on this book.
Vince’s Pick: “The Auteur” #1
How could it be anything other than the double page spread of Abraham Lincoln cleaving the front half of a guy’s face off?
