Hello, and welcome to Saturday Morning Panels, your new favorite Multiversity column! It’s a very simple concept: since none of us are up to watching Saturday morning cartoons anymore, we are instead going to share with you our favorite panels from the week before. It’s a bit like Comics Should Be Cheap, except with more pictures and less reading.
And, of course, spoilers are probably abundant.
We encourage you to play along at home and let us know what your favorite moments of the week were in the comment section! In the meantime, our picks –
Matt’s Pick: “Chew” #33
PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENGTHULUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Scottish David’s Pick: “Captain Marvel” #12
This is everything I love about this series. It can go from an intense, kick-ass fight for most of the issue to one playful panel of Carol to absolutely heartbreaking without breaking it’s flow. And with Fillipe Andrade and Joride Bellaire it looks beautiful all the way through. This might just be my favourite ever comic book.
James’ Pick: “Daredevil” #25
Ikari, who’s basically Anti-Daredevil, is probably one of my new favorite villains thanks to this moment where Mark reveals that not only does he have all of Matt’s mad skills, but he can see too.
Michelle’s Pick: “Miniature Jesus” #1
The sassiest dead cat of the week, courtesy of Ted McKeever. This book was way funnier than its (ostensible) plotline would have you expect, and we’ve barely even gotten to the part about Miniature Jesuses yet.
Vince’s Pick: “Five Ghosts: The Haunting of Fabian Gray” #2
I could have picked about a dozen or so panels from this gorgeous book, but I went with the one that would have provided me the most abject terror if I were reading the book under a blanket, with a flashlight, when I was 10 years old. This full page spread captures the tension and the adventure of this terrific story perfectly and also spiders are freakin’ scary, you guys.
