Hello, and welcome to Saturday Morning Panels, your new favorite Multiversity column! It’s a very simple concept: since none of us are up to watching Saturday morning cartoons anymore, we are instead going to share with you our favorite panels from the week before. It’s a bit like Comics Should Be Cheap, except with more pictures and less reading.
And, of course, spoilers are probably abundant.
We encourage you to play along at home and let us know what your favorite moments of the week were in the comment section! In the meantime, our picks –
Matthew’s Pick: “X-Factor” #255
🙁
Walt’s Pick: “All New X-Men” #11
It’s stupid, but I laughed at every single one of these panels, solely because I heard each of them in the overly dramatic “JEEEEEAAAAN” voice from the X-Men animated series. I could write something about how it was a pretty intense moment, or about how Immonen killed this issue like he has every one before, but… no. JEEEEAAAAAN!
Zach’s Pick: “Age of Ultron” #7
Iron Mania is at a fever pitch with the release of Iron Man 3, so how could I not pick this panel featuring an alternate universe Tony Stark? His repulsor ray hips don’t lie!
Vince’s Pick: “Polarity” #2
The first time it happened, it was a decently timed barf joke. The second time it happened, it took me completely by surprise.
Scottish David’s Pick: “Hawkeye” #10
This is probably the comic everyone is going to be talking about this week and for good reason. Fraction is really pulling out all the stops to make every artist he works with on this book put out their best ever work. I haven’t seen a comic book play with time in panels like this since “We3”. What a good comic.
Alaskan David’s Pick: “Bigfoot: Sword of the Earthman #3”
My 4 Color News and Brews Brandon Burpee is about as fervent of a supporter of comics as you can find, yet he pretty much never writes about them so never gets his name on comics for pull quotes. Which is a damn shame. Thankfully, Josh Henaman, the writer of Bigfoot: Sword of the Earthman, put a pull quote from Brandon on the back of this week’s issue and the results are about as Brandon of results as you ever could get. Sure, there were some neat comics this week, but no part of a comic made me happier than that. And if you don’t agree, you can $#@% my &!@$.
