Hello, and welcome to Saturday Morning Panels! It’s a very simple concept: since none of us are up to watching Saturday morning cartoons anymore, we are instead going to share with you our favorite panels from the week before. It’s a bit like Comics Should Be Cheap, except with more pictures and less reading.
And, of course, spoilers are probably abundant.
We encourage you to play along at home and let us know what your favorite moments of the week were in the comment section! In the meantime, our picks:

“Annihilator” #1: This may just be my favorite opening scene of a comic this year. – Matthew Meylikhov

“Captain Victory and the Galactic Rangers” #2: Man, it is so good to have Joe Casey and Nate Fox together again. What a team. – Matthew Meylikhov

“Copperhead” #1: Looking for awesome women comic characters? Well Copperhead has your new favorite in the form of Clara Bronson, the new sheriff (two f’s) in town who is a certified badass. – David Harper

“Copperhead” #1: There’s a lot of charm in this first issue, but the gruff relationship with the man called Boo is maybe the most charming part. – David Harper

“Death of Wolverine” #2: I think that the “Death of Wolverine” comic is a pretty shallow, uninspired comic built on nostalgia and glamorous violence… but man, Steve McNiven really was the right choice for this book. (Is it cheating to post two pages here? Probably. But my site, my rules, suckers!) – Matthew Meylikhov

“East of West” #15: Props to Hickman and Dragotta for making a book where I can never accurately predict which direction it’s going in. Easily one of the most consistent books out there. – James Johnston

“Hawkeye” #20: You know, I didn’t love this issue because of the structure, but these panels were part of many elements that charmed like hell because of Fraction’s wit and Wu’s ability to nail facial expressions. Pretty bad blog, indeed. – David Harper

“Hawkeye” #20: Ever since I read the original run of “Young Avengers,” Kate was always my favorite member of the team. This story really only elevates that initial like of the character about a thousand percent. Clint who?

“Hawkeye” #20: There were many ways that Kate’s story in “Hawkeye” could wrap up before her return. That we end on a Robert Towne line, however, seems like the only true option available in retrospect.

“Lazarus” #11: If you could choose your family in life, Forever would choose Marisol, and man, Michael Lark nails this moment. The man is a golden god. – David Harper

“Morning Glories” #40: I saw someone on tumblr refer to the scene that follows this as “Ian Simon: Trash Baby.” Sums it up nicely, I think. – Matthew Meylikhov

“Ms. Marvel” #8: In a single panel, G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona distill everything I love about this comic. Also, I WANT TO HUG LOCKJAW. – David Harper; No, I want to hug Lockjaw! – Matthew Meylikhov

“Teen Dog” #1: Teen Dog: Comic Book of the Year, 2014. – Vince Ostrowski
