Hello and welcome back to Saturday Morning Panels! For our final Saturday Morning Panels of the year, we asked our staff to give us their favorites of their submissions from 2019.

So kick-back, watch out for spoilers, talk about your favorites from in comments section below, and Happy Holidays!

“Strangers in Paradise XXV” #9: Looks like we’ve got a, *takes off sunglasses,* murder on our hands. YEAAAAAHHHHHHH (Cue the rest of the CSI Miami theme.) – Elias Rosner (Week of 1/2/19)

“Ms. Marvel” #37: “Those who wish to seek out the cause of miracles and to understand the things of nature as philosophers, and not to stare at them in astonishment like fools, are soon considered heretical and impious, and proclaimed as such by those whom the mob adores as the interpreters of nature and the gods. For these men know that, once ignorance is put aside, that wonderment would be taken away, which is the only means by which their authority is preserved.” – Spinoza, Ethics, Part 1, “Of God,” Appendix. – Kevin Gregory (Week of 1/30/19)

“Immortal Hulk” #13: Make Mine Marvel. – Elias Rosner (Week of 2/6/19)

“Ms. Marvel” (2015) #38: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” – John 15:13 – Kate Kosturski (SMP Special Edition: A Tribute to “Ms. Marvel.”)

“Avengers” #17: Thori is the best murder dog and I can prove it scientifically. – Robbie Pleasant (Week of 3/20/19)

“Age of X-Man X-Tremists” #2: What is this feeling? I think I- I… I think I ship Blobsy. – Jake Hill (Week of 3/20/19)

“Action Comics” #1010: Still looks better than whatever curled up and died on Ben McKenzie’s upper lip in the Gotham series finale. – Kate Kosturski (Week of 4/24/19)

“Young Justice” #5: [insert Captain America “I understood that reference” gif.] – Kevin Gregory (Week of 5/1/19)

“The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl” #44: The sparkles are a natural byproduct of magical girl transformations. But I also very much look forward to seeing someone cosplay this. – Robbie Pleasant (Week of 5/8/19)

“Catwoman” #11: Now that’s what I call motion lines. – Jake Hill (Week of 5/8/19)

“Incursion” #4: “And Lot’s wife, of course, was told not to look back where all those people and their homes had been. But she did look back, and I love her for that, because it was so human. So she was turned into a pillar of salt. So it goes.” – Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five – Kevin Gregory (Week of 5/22/19)

“War of the Realms” #5: Wait, you’re telling me there’s a Thori/Bats team-up and we’re NOT getting a full five-issue tie-in mini-series covering every glorious moment of these good boys working together? For shame, Marvel! – Robbie Pleasant (Week of 6/5/19)

“War of the Realms” #5: Well, I know what my next D&D character will be. UPDATE: I did indeed make a D&D character that’s an elf with a gun. His name is Elhendi, which is Elvish for “Hawk Eyes,” and I just started painting his miniature. – Robbie Pleasant (Week of 6/5/19)

“Amazing Spider-Man” #23: Taskmaster/Black Ant is the ship of 2019. You heard it here first true believers. – Jake Hill (Week of 6/12/19)

“X-Men Grand Design: X-Tinction” #2: You can just smell Logan’s wet, virile hair on this page. – Jake Hill (Week of 6/19/19)

“Giant Days” #52: Long ago, the three key areas lived in harmony. Then, everything changed when the business attacked. – Elias Rosner (Week of 7/3/19)

“Age of X-Man: Apocalypse and the X-Tracts” #5: Baruch hashem this is stupid. A real shilshul balagan. Who’s the putz that approved this mishugas? – Jake Hill (Week of 7/10/19)

“Silver Surfer Black” #2: Hi Ego, I’m forgetting what my name is at the moment but you are drawn so pretty.- Jake Hill (Week of 7/17/19)

Continued below

“House of X” #1: AAAAARRRTTTTTTTT. – Kate Kosturski (Week of 7/24/19)

“House of X” #1: AAAAARRRTTTTTTTT Part 2: Electric Boogaloo. – Kate Kosturski (Week of 7/24/19)

“Runaways” #23: Your OTHER friendly-neighborhood PSA that the global-meat industry is inhumane, treats other-than-human animals as machines and tools or less, and are the SINGLE biggest contributors to the ongoing climate crisis the planet faces. There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism. That is all. Return to your brunch mimosa. – Kevin Gregory (Week of 7/31/19)

“Manor Black” #1: I’m not saying it was aliens, but . . . well, you know the rest. – Kate Kosturski (Week of 7/31/19)
“Analog” #7: I’m reminded of a nursery rhyme my mom sang to me when I was little:
There was a little girl
Who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead
And when she was good she was very very good
And when she was bad she was horrid.
– Kate Kosturski (Week of 8/14/19)

“Outer Darkness” #10: In the game of cubicles there are only two outcomes. You either kill that annoying asshole Jason from accounting or you’re killed by Jill’s succulents. – Elias Rosner (Week of 9/11/19)

“King Thor” #1: Why? Because I, Li-Sol, God of Cleaning decree it so! – Elias Rosner (Week of 9/11/19)

“The Terrifics” #20: Legally Distinct Voltron Knockoff, GO! – Robbie Pleasant (Week of 9/25/19)

“Gwenpool Strikes Back” #5: Bees. My god. – Elias Rosner (Week of 12/18/19)

One of our favorite characters of 2019 that all of us stan (after Baby Yoda, of course), was Kelly Thompson’s Jeff the Landshark, who made his first appearance in “West Coast Avengers.” We couldn’t close out the year without a little tribute to our favorite moments of the very goodest of boys.

“West Coast Avengers” #8: Jeff is a good boy and must be protected. – Robbie Pleasant (Week of 2/27/19)

“West Coast Avengers” #9: Hey instead of cancelling this series, we get 100 more issues and everyone gets a free Jeff the Shark plushie? – Jake Hill
“West Coast Avengers” #9: I’ll say it again: Jeff is a good boy who must be protected. – Robbie Pleasant
“West Coast Avengers” #9: Jeff will live on in our hearts. #justiceforjeff #dontcancelwestcoastavengersyoumonsters. – Elias Rosner

“West Coast Avengers” #9: You took “West Coast Avengers” away from me last week, cruel world. Then you took my beloved Supernatural this week. So all I have to say is: #LeaveJeffAlone! – Kate Kosturski (Week of 3/20/19)

“West Coast Avengers” #10: I have nothing to add that could make this any better. I’ll just miss this series so much. Jeff needs to return in as many comics as possible. – Robbie Pleasant (Week of 4/17/19)

“West Coast Avengers” #10: If I could, I’d fill this whole column with Jeff to protest the unfair cancellation of the only series to make me like Gwenpool and Quentin. #justiceforjeff, #howdareyoucancelwestcoastavengersyoumonsters. – Elias Rosner (Week of 4/17/19)

“West Coast Avengers” #10: Who do I have to speak to at Marvel to pitch a Thori and Jeff spinoff? Because I want to write it and it will run for a hundred issues of face-eating, murdering fun. #JusticeForJeff. – Robbie Pleasant (Week of 4/17/19)

“Deadpool” #1: This is now a Jeff appreciation blog. Someone make me a mood board. #justiceforjeff – Elias Rosner (Week of 11/20/19)
