Soliciting Multiversity: Marvel’s Top 10 for November 2021

November leads us into Thanksgiving season, and with any luck (and everyone doing their part) we’ll be able to enjoy Thanksgiving with friends and family once again. But if we can’t, at least we’ll still have plenty of fantastic comics from Marvel to look forward to. So without further ado, let’s see what’s in store this year.

10. Here There be Dragons

While “Marauders” has managed to hit plenty of important emotional beats, it’s also been a dang fun comic above all else. Seafaring mutants running both smuggling operations and heroics? It’s been a blast, but do you know what could make it better? More dragons. And we’re getting that, with the Marauders facing Fin Fang Foom. It’s bound to be a good time.

• HOW TO FIGHT YOUR DRAGON!
• While a new representative of Krakoa hits the international stage, the Marauders find themselves face-to-snout with He-Whose-Limbs-Shatter-Mountains-and-Whose-Back-Scrapes-the-Sun, FIN FANG FOOM himself!

9. More Wars in the Stars

After Qi’ra had her appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story, it seemed unlikely that she’d be appearing again, in spite of setups for future story beats. Well, Charles Soule has proven me wrong, first with her appearance in “War of the Bounty Hunters,” and now with a new story arc picking up from there. Crimson Dawn is playing a bigger role in the “Star Wars” comics than they did in the movies, and it’s this kind of inter-connected continuity that I love to see (as long as I can keep up with it, at least).

Star Wars: Crimson Reign #1
Written by Charles Soule
Illustrated by Steven Cummings
Cover by Leinil Francis Yu
Variant covers by David Lopez, Rahzzah, Valerio Giangiordano, Clayton Crain, Khoi Pham, Ario Anindito, and Steven Cummings

• AFTER THE DAWN… COMES THE REIGN!
• The story that began with WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS continues here, in the second installment of a trilogy that will reshape the history of the Star Wars Galaxy during the Age of Rebellion. Featuring the return of beloved characters, shocking twists, epic feats of the Force and a story that will reach from Star Wars’ darkest underworld all the way to the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, Crimson Reign is a Star Wars saga like no other!

8. Marvel’s Finest

There’s nothing like a good team-up, right? Captain America and Iron Man are some of Marvel’s biggest characters (thanks in no small part to the movies), and while their cinematic days may be over, there’s still plenty of them in the comics. So we have this upcoming comic, where the two will team up to go after a shared figure from their pasts. Who is this, and what’s the connection? We’ll have to wait and see, but Derek Landy and Angel Unzueta are fine choices for crafting this story, so let’s see what’s in store.

Also: Just look at that Alex Ross cover!

Captain America/Iron Man #1

• A government agent turned Hydra provocateur stages a daring breakout on her way to prison, attracting the attention of both Iron Man and Captain America. When Steve and Tony realize they both have a connection to the slippery fugitive, they team up to track her down—only to discover she’s not the only player on the board with big plans and sinister motives…
• Derek Landy (FALCON & WINTER SOLDIER; THE BLACK ORDER) and Angel Unzueta (IRON MAN; STAR WARS) team up to bring you a thrilling adventure starring a fan-favorite dynamic duo!

7. Smash ’em Again

What comes after the fantastic run that is “The Immortal Hulk?” Donny Cates, fresh off his run on “Venom,” is taking over with a new run. The title of this arc alone already tells me that it’s a story aligned with my interests, and the solicitation promises plenty of rage-fueled smashing, as well as maybe a mystery along the way. It all adds up to a promising new run for the jolly green rage machine.

6. A Good Thing

Speaking of big bruiser heroes with “The Noun” names, we also have a new comic about The Thing (a personal favorite member of the Fantastic Four). Yes, we’re getting to follow Ben Grimm on a solo journey through Yancy Street and beyond, and with Walter Mosley writing it, accompanied by Tom Reilley’s artwork, I have every reason to think this is going to be a good one.

• THE NEXT BIG THING Begins Here!

5. Thanos Eternal

Have you been reading Kieron Gillen’s run on “Eternals?” If not, you need to start now. A new arc is beginning, and the ramifications of a recent issue’s revelations will surely shape the story and characters moving forward. Why are the Eternals working with Thanos now? Catch up and see why they would, then wait until this new story arc begins and we see what Kieron has in store for the Eternals next.

4. Native Voices Speak Up Again

Marvel is doing more Voices series, and we return to Native/Indigenous voices. There’s plenty of great characters to look at with excellent creative minds behind them, so it should be no surprise that this comic makes the list. Representation will always matter, and comics like Marvel’s Voices are a great way to highlight the representation they have.

2. One Sharp Arrow

There’s no bad choice for best Hawkeye. Clint Barton and Kate Bishop both have a lot going for them, and when either of them gets a solo run, it’s well worth reading. Now it’s Kate’s turn again with a new miniseries by Marieke Nijkamp, bringing Kate back to New York and taking on a new case that will undoubtedly require a lot of shooting arrows. It’s gonna be a fun one.

• Don’t miss this exciting new miniseries from New York Times bestselling writer Marieke Nijkamp and artist Enid Balám!

1. Nice Day for a Red Wedding

To say Chip Zdarsky’s run on “Daredevil” has been good would be an understatement. It’s been an intense, character-driven story that breaks apart and rebuilds everything Daredevil stands for. And now it’s coming to an end. So how does Chip end his run? With a wedding, of course, and who else but… Wilson Fisk and Typhoid Mary? Well, comic book weddings are always exciting, and this will certainly be no exception. So let’s see how Chip’s run comes to an end in “Daredevil” #36.
