Welcome to the Rundown! Until our regularly scheduled rundowner, David Harper, gets back from getting hitched (ooooooooooooooooooh), I’ll be your guide to all things newsworthy that slipped through our reporting cracks. Email any pertinent articles to brian@multiversitycomics.com
-An interesting (if flawed) argument is that Mark Waid’s “Daredevil” appears to be great because of the time it is published in, due to its “old school” feel. So, CBR takes a look at the series and compares it to classic comics and tries to get to the bottom of the claim.
-Oh, Orson Scott Card – never (always) change.
-Continuing to be the most socially progressive comics company out there, plans for an “Archie” storyline that features the gang going to Russia has been adapted to avoid the country, due to Russia’s new anti-gay laws. Keep fighting the good fight, Riverdale!
-Steve Niles has an upcoming IDW mini called “Monster & Madman,” with art by Damien Worm.
-Speaking of Niles, his band, Gray Matter, is playing the 30th anniversary of legendary Washington, D.C. club the Black Cat. The poster for the gig was drawn by Phil Noto.
-Bex Taylor-Klaus, late of AMC’s The Killing, has been added to Arrow as Sin, a Gail Simone created character, debuted in “Birds of Prey.”
-There is a new international trailer for 300: Rise of an Emperor.
-The new TMNT movie has been moved to August 2014, one week after Guardians of the Galaxy opens. The same article announces the IMAX 3D-ization of Thor: The Dark World.
-Aaron Taylor-Johnson isn’t quite officially signed on to play Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron just yet.
-And finally, will J.J. Abrams be the overlord of the entire new Star Wars universe? Possibly, but not likely, says this Multiversian.
