The second round of our March Madness tourney, called The Tweet Off, is in full swing, and the first day results are in. We’re figuring out who the best comic person is on Twitter, and we’re going to have the highly scientific method of ranking our 32 favorites by Twitter followers, and then having you the reader vote alongside both of us to decide each winner. Both Matt and David will be voting as well, with each day’s winners being announced the next day. The winner gets our love and adoration, and gets to move on to the next round. Lucky them.

Look for the second day of the second round to come tomorrow. For now, the contestants get a day off. They earned it!

(8) Jamie S. Rich (@JamieESRich) vs. (5) Ron Marz (@RonMarz)

The Popular Vote: Jamie S. Rich

Matt Meylikhov: This one is super tough. Ill give it to Jamie for pointing out the Badlands/Moonrise Kingdom connection.

Matt’s Vote: Rich

David Harper: Jamie created the hashtag #haveabeerwithme after winning his first round match-up. I’m not saying I can be bought, but…

David’s Vote: Rich

The Winner: By a vote of 3-0, it’s Jamie S. Rich!

(6) Faith Erin Hicks (@FaithErinHicks) vs. (2) Scott Snyder (@SSnyder1835)

The Popular Vote: Faith Erin Hicks

Matt Meylikhov: Well, as much as I like Snyder, Hicks wins for being the more informative tweeter. And also for the webcomics. Where are your webcomics, Scott!

Matt’s Vote: Hicks

David Harper: Hicks is highly entertaining, but the Internet is a very, very snarky place, and Snyder is endlessly positive. I like that.

David’s Vote: Snyder

The Winner: By a vote of 2-1, it’s Faith Erin Hicks!

(8) Jennifer de Guzman (@Jennifer_deG) vs. (5) Jeff Parker (@JeffParker)

The Popular Vote: Jennifer de Guzman

Matt Meylikhov: Parker would normally be my vote, but he has since abandoned his king astronaut title. Boo! Jen gets my vote.

Matt’s Vote: de Guzman

David Harper: I really enjoy JdG on Twitter, but Parker is one of the funniest and most genuine people on Twitter. BAM!

David’s Vote: Parker

The Winner: By a vote of 2-1, it’s Jennifer de Guzman!

(6) Chris Burnham (@TheBurnham) vs. (7) Brandon Graham (@royalboiler)

The Popular Vote: Chris Burnham

Matt Meylikhov: Again, like last time, I like Graham a whole lot but I’m going to have to give into Burnham. Burnham makes me laugh more.

Matt’s Vote: Burnham

David Harper: Burnham makes me laugh and provides scathing commentary on comics, as you could see in his last sample tweet. Gotta be him.

David’s Vote: Burnham

The Winner: By a vote of 3-0, it’s Chris Burnham!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
