The Tweet Off: Day Two

The second day of our March Madness tourney, called The Tweet Off, hits today. We’re figuring out who the best comic person is on Twitter, and we’re going to have the highly scientific method of ranking our 32 favorites by Twitter followers, and then having you the reader vote alongside both of us to decide each winner. Both Matt and David will be voting as well, with each day’s winners being announced the next day. The winner gets our love and adoration, and gets to move on to the next round. Lucky them.

Let’s get to the match-ups.

(1) Agent M (@AgentM) vs. (8) Jennifer de Guzman (@Jennifer_DeG)

Followers: 1,342,868 for Penagos/Agent M, 1,679 for de Guzman

Their Work: In the battle of comic marketing professionals, Agent M is basically the man who makes Marvel.com what it is, while Jennifer de Guzman is the person who handles Marketing/PR for Image. The former is a man as noted for his sheer enthusiasm for tacos as he is for comics, while the latter is a seasoned vet of the industry (previously the EIC over at Slave Labor Graphics) who is as opinionated about everyone’s rights as she is about creator’s rights. Both are incredibly awesome.

(2) Rob Liefeld (@RobertLiefeld) vs. (7) Brandon Graham (@RoyalBoiler)

Followers: 49,633 for Liefeld, 6,397 for Graham

Their Work: You know Rob Liefeld – everyone who follows comics does. He’s the guy created Deadpool, Cable and an array of other Marvel characters, as well as one of the co-founders of Image Comics and the person in charge of Extreme Studios over there (which releases books like Prophet and Youngblood). He’s someone who is certainly not afraid of unleashing an opinion. Also not afraid of that? The writer and occasional artist of the aforementioned Prophet, Brandon Graham. He’s one of the best and brightest in comics today, combining an enthusiasm for creation with the talent to fully realize it.

(3) Mark Waid (@MarkWaid) vs. (6) Chris Burnham (@TheBurnham)

Followers: 32,165 for Waid, 7,966 for Burnham

Their Work: Waid is the current writer of both Marvel’s beloved Daredevil and the newer Indestructible Hulk, as well as a digital comics pioneer and the founder of digital house Thrillbent. He’s been around the industry for a long time, and I’d wager he knows more about DC Comics than all of us combined. Meanwhile, Chris Burnham killed Damian Wayne because he hates us.

Just kidding Chris. He’s the guy who draws Batman Incorporated, amongst other things.

(4) Steve Wacker (@StephenWacker) vs. (5) Jeff Parker (@JeffParker)

Followers: 13,903 for Wacker, 9,996 for Parker

Their Work: Wacker is maybe the best behind the scenes guy around. He’s the current editor of Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova, Spider-Man, Daredevil and more, and he was the man who managed to miraculously make 52 work for DC. He also seemingly sticks up for his creators no matter what, which is totally awesome. Parker on the other hand is the writer of Dark Avengers, Red She-Hulk and an array of other titles you probably know, but perhaps most notably he created Lord Demonpimp.
