While you were out eating hot dogs and playing with fireworks, DC’s The Source announced a book that should honestly be quite good: “Joe Kubert Presents.”

A six-issue anthology, the book sees Joe Kubert taking on a few characters in a few stories because he wants to (which is a great concept for a book). Kubert will be doing stories with Hawkman, Spit, the Redeemer, Sg.t Rock and the Biker, and the book will also feature stories by San Glanzman (writer/artist who will be telling a new USS Stevens tale) and Brian Buniak (writer/artist who will be doing an Angel and the Ape tale). A few fairly old properties in there, but as Kubert puts it in DC’s announcement, “I’ve been given the privilege to design the kind of comic book that I would enjoy reading and one in which I’d like to participate. This is it.”

Look for the mini-series to begin in October.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
