The 14th Annual Glyph Comics Awards, honoring the year’s best comics by people of color, were held at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention in Philadelphia last night. Greg Anderson Elysee and Daryl Toh’s Anansi-inspired comic “Is’Nana the Were-Spider, Vol 2: The Hornet’s Web” won Story of the Year, and Elysee also won the Award for Best Writer.

Lion Forge’s “Noble, Vol 2: Never Events” received three awards: Best Cover (for artist Khary Randolph), Best Artist (for Randolph and interior artists Roger Robinson and Manuel Garcia), and Best Male Character (which went to the whole creative team, including writer Brandon Thomas). Best Female Character was awarded to “Blackstarr: Birth of a Supernova Part 1,” written by Charlene R. Jones and illustrated by Corey Thomas.

Other recipients at this year’s awards included:

– Austine Osas and Yusuf Shittuh, who won the Rising Star Award for their topical sci-fi comic “Under the Sun.”

– Muhammad Rasheed, who won Best Comic Strip or Webcomic for his political cartoon series “Weapon of the People: Decoded.”

– YouNeek Studios’ “Malika – Warrior Queen Part One,” which was named Best Reprint Publication.

– Norwick Robertson, Mikhail Sebastian, and Brandon Treadway, whose manga-inspired “Endigo Society: The Golden Age” won the Fan Award for Best Work.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees. Submissions for the 15th annual Glyph Awards will open sometime later this year.
