Every year, the legendary Alex Ross releases a new sketchbook at San Diego Comic-Con, and we are pleased to present a first look at the 2023 edition’s artwork of the Fantastic Four, narrated by Ross himself:
Ross tells us about the impact the superheroes’ co-creator Jack Kirby had on him as an artist, while showing us his sketches and studies for last year’s original graphic novel “Fantastic Four: Full Circle,” and his covers for Ryan North and Iban Coello’s “Fantastic Four” run, which also began in 2022. Even without his trademark paints, it’s clear Ross’s art is an extraordinarily detailed and lifelike take on Kirby’s original character designs.
The 2023 Alex Ross Sketchbook will be available to buy from Ross’s website, and the San Diego Convention Center’s Booth #2415 during the weekend of July 20-23, 2023. Unsigned copies of the hardcover book will cost $50, while signed editions will cost $100; you can join the waiting list for the book here.
