DC have begun revealing tie-in comics for Mark Waid and Dan Mora’s summer event series “Absolute Power.” First up is “Absolute Power: Task Force VII,” a biweekly series following the story from the supervillains’ perspective, with July’s issues consisting of:

– Issue #1 (July 10), written by Leah Williams with art by Caitlin Yarsky. It will see the Last Son, an Amazo robot created by Amanda Waller, go after Shazam, Mary Marvel, and the rest of the Shazamily in the wake of stealing the Superman Family’s powers.
– Issue #2 (July 24) by John Layman and Max Raynor, which takes place in Atlantis, now ruled by Depth Charge, an Amazo robot who has taken Aquaman’s powers and his throne. “It falls to Mera and the rest of the Aqua-Family to launch a revolution without being discovered.”
– Issue #3 (July 31) by Jeremy Adams and Marco Santucci, where the Amazo robot Jadestone has absorbed the powers of the Justice Society. However, absorbing Alan Scott’s willpower grants it free will, and it starts to contemplate whether following Waller is correct.
Then we have “Absolute Power: Origins,” a three-issue series by John Ridley and Alitha Martinez, promising a definitive origin story for Amanda Waller. “Find out what has led her to this place in a tale of how Waller suffered a catastrophic loss, and how she forged her powerlessness into a path to vengeance, fueled by two words that changed her life, and the lives of everyone in the DC Universe: NEVER AGAIN.” Issue #1 releases July 24.
DC also provided details on July’s “Wonder Woman” #11 (by Tom King, Tony S. Daniel, and Belén Ortega), “Superman” #16 (Joshua Williamson and Jamal Campbell), and “Batman” #150, which will actually have the tie-in as a back-up by Chip Zdarsky and Mike Hawthorne, while the main story will be a new one by Zdarsky, Jorge Jiménez, and Denys Cowan.
In the meantime, “Absolute Power” #1 (of 4) will now be released on July 3, and be preceded by a Free Comic Book Day prelude on May 4, as well as the one-shot “Absolute Power: Ground Zero,” releasing June 25. DC have confirmed the latter’s stories will be written by Waid, Nicole Maines, Joshua Williamson, and Chip Zdarsky, and feature art by Gleb Melnikov, V Ken Marion, and Skylar Patridge.
