Announced on Newsarama, it looks like Charles Soule is leaving the “Thunderbolts” title and is being replaced by not just one writer, but two.

Cue the team of The Thrilling Adventure Hour, Ben Acker and Ben Blacker. The duo previously wrote a pretty damn entertaining “Thunderbolts” Annual and will be moving on to bigger and better things, as apparently Charles Soule has finally realized he can’t actually write every comic out there. And how are they kicking things off? By putting the Thunderbolts against one of their own in an arc called “The Punisher vs. Thunderbolts.”

Carlo Barberi will remain as the artist.

I, for one, am for the switch. Not that Soule is doing a bad job (he’s not), but I like The Thrilling Adventure Hour a lot. I think Acker and Blacker could probably continue to deliver a consistently entertaining comic, which is what “Thunderbolts” has been: definitely low on the list of comics you care about, but always entertaining and well-put together.

Hopefully the book can continue its trend upwards, and we wish the best for Acker and Blacker on their first full-time comic writing gig.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
