Former IDW CEO Ted Adams and IDW Executive Vice President Robbie Robbins are launching a new, eclectic publishing house called Clover Press. According to Publishers Weekly, Clover Press will publish graphic novels, art books, prose, and other projects – starting with a Gabriel Rodriguez (“Locke and Key”) variant cover for “Silver Surfer: Black.”
The two former IDW co-founders will be joined by Adams’s assistant, Elaine LaRosa, and IDW Business Development Manager Nate Murray. In the article at Publishers Weekly, Adams described Clover as a “joint publishing venture” with IDW, while Murray described it as a “spin-off company” via Twitter.
Adams notably stepped down as IDW’s CEO in July of last year, saying he planned to return to the publisher in a more creative capacity after a brief sabbatical. Clover Press appears to be the result of that sabbatical, and it also appears to be designed to let Adams, Robbins, and their team publish whatever they want, however they want.
“[Clover] will release no more than two to three books a month, offering both original titles and reprints of classic works,” said Publishers Weekly. “The new house will [also] experiment with crowdfunding for some titles, and plans to sell titles directly to consumers.”
According to PW, Clover will release more details on its initial publication line-up later this summer.
