In January, BOOM! Studios will launch a new Adventure Time series called “Adventure Time: Marcy & Simon.” The series will be written by Olivia Olson, who voiced Marceline in the hit cartoon series, and be illustrated by Slimm Fabert, who is also familiar with the series having worked on “Adventure Time 2017 SPOookTACULAR #1.” The main cover art for the series will be supplied by Brittney Williams (“Goldie Vance”), while Lisa Dubois (“Rugrats”), Sofie Drozdova (“Regular Show”) and Ashley Morales will all provide variant covers for issue #1.

The six-part comic series will be a continuation of the titular character’s stories following Adventure Time‘s series finale last month: now that Marceline and Simon are together again, Simon is desperate to make “amends for his time as Ice King,” and so the pair, joined by Finn and Jake, set off on an adventure that will feature twists and turns that will mean even the “heroes have a hard time keeping up!”

Olson described how having playing the character for eight years “taught [her] a lot about [herself]” because she and the character have a lot in common, although Olson did note that she didn’t share Marceline’s “demon/vampire post-apocalyptic childhood.” She finished by stating she plans to “do our queen proud and keep the spirit of Adventure Time alive undead.” Fabert detailed that the history between Marceline and the Ice King is his favourite part of the series so he is “very lucky to get to work on a comic that explores their relationship in the present.”

This series is the second continuation of Adventure Time to be announced by BOOM! Studios following their announcement of an 11th season at SDCC earlier this year.

“Adventure Time: Marcy & Simon” #1 is scheduled to be released on January 16.
