Image Comics, including Skybound, made several announcements today:

– “Adventureman: Ghost Lights,” a two-part follow-up to Matt Fraction and Terry & Rachel Dodson’s 2020-22 retro sci-fi adventure. The synopsis reads, “When the Good Guys of the Golden Age come back, all their ghosts follow — now Claire, the new Adventureman, and her maybe-beau Chris, the new Crossdraw Kid, defend peace on earth from a phantom empire of crime!” Issue #1 releases December 20, with a variant cover by Joshua Swaby.
– “Bloodrik,” a three-part barbarian comic by writer/artist Andrew Krahnke (“Outrunners,” “Tartarus”). The book follows the “angry, confused and starving” title character after he discovers nothing in his usual hunting grounds, forcing him “into unfamiliar woods in an attempt to feed his stomach and heal his wounded ego. What he finds will lead him on a journey of madness, violence, fire and BLOOD!” The first issue releases December 6.
– “Shift,” a one-shot reprinting the Massive-Verse stories from the “Image! 30th Anniversary Anthology,” also featuring a new five-page story by creators Kyle Higgins and Daniele Di Nicuolo. The comics revolve around Guy/Shift, a mysterious mercenary who’s tangled with the protagonists of “Radiant Black” and “The Dead Lucky.” The compendium will be released on December 20, with a main cover by Igor Monti, and a variant by Di Nicuolo.
Skybound, meanwhile, revealed “Sea Serpent’s Heir Book Three: Queen of Mercy” will be released sometime in Fall 2024. The original graphic novel marks the final installment of Mairghread Scott and Pablo Tunica’s young adult fantasy series, and will see young heroine Aella being forced to battle her aunt Kiana, after she steals the power of the sea god Xir. “Can Aella stop the person who taught her everything she knows about magic from destroying the world?”
Furthermore, Skybound announced Shawn Kittelsen and Eric Zawadzki’s series “Heart Attack” will become a live-action, Japanese TV series from Fuji TV. “Heart Attack,” which began in 2019, takes place in a world where young people with superpowers are denied human rights, and follows a couple who discover they’re capable of using a new power together. Toru Ota, executive VP of Fuji TV, said, “We look forward to working together to develop new IP and expand Fuji Television’s IP in the US.” Production will begin later in 2023.
