Revealed on DCU’s The Source and in their solicits, it has been announced that at the end of Brightest Day, a 3 issue mini-series will launch entitled The Search.

The solicit for the series reads as follows:

Following the events of Brightest Day, the new protector of Earth has been chosen. But one reluctant hero making his return to the DCU is trying to convince Batman, Superman and the others heroes of the DC Universe that this may not be a good thing, because he can see that things are not right and mankind’s brightest days are indeed over.

Hmm. It certainly adds a level of intrigue that the above image, which is assumedly the cover to the first issue, has two characters blacked out – perhaps the new hero and someone who sides with Batman and Superman who may have been heavily involved in Brightest Day?

Look for this series June 22nd, written by Jonathan Vankin and Marco Castiello (who, interestingly enough, were not involved in Brightest Day – which might not seem noteworthy at first, but you’d assume that the aftermath of an event like this would be handled by the BD team, no?).

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
