Via CBR, AfterShock have announced “AfterDark,” a one-shot horror anthology for October. The 48-page ‘One-Shock’ will consist of four stories, written by Cullen Bunn, Jim Starlin, Joe Pruett and Frank Tieri, and penciled by Cliff Richards, Nikkol Jelenic, Szymon Kudranski, and Joe Eisma.

Bunn’s story, ‘Dust to Dust,’ was described by the writer as “a bittersweet sort of horror tale, a story of love and loss and undying commitment, both to the fleeting time we have left on this earth, and the time we’ll have in whatever’s next.”

Tieri, Eisma and colorist Matt Herms’s story is ‘Along Came A Spider.’ Described by Tieri as a “f#%&ed up twist” on “Little Miss Muffet” in the vein of the creative team’s comic ‘Little Red Hood’ (from the prior AfterShock anthology “Shock”), the story follows “Detective Muffet, who’s on the trail of an elusive and deadly serial killer called The Spider. Needless to say, it’s very dark. It’s very creepy. It’s going to lead to some nightmares. And it might lead to even more than that, so stay tuned.”

Starlin simply called his contribution “a tale of catastrophic generational dissatisfaction set in a dystopian future,” with “lots of laughs,” while Pruett and Kudranski’s story will be a standalone addition to the world of their AfterShock series “Black-Eyed Kids.” “We will see some familiar faces in the new story, but you do not have to have been a reader of the series to enjoy it,” said Pruett. “It’s new reader friendly.”

“AfterDark” will be released on October 13, and retail for $6.99. It will come with a regular cover by Tony Harris, and an ncentive cover by Szymon Kudranski. You can view interior art at CBR.
