In the lead up to San Diego Comic Con, new comic publisher AfterShock has announced its first batch of creators. Reported by Deadline, the line-up is headed up by big name talent such as Garth Ennis (“Preacher”) and Neil Gaiman (“Sandman”), the latter of which will feature in a new short story anthology series. Also joining AfterShock is an impressively diverse line-up of creators including husband/wife team of Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Connor, Paul Jenkins, Justin Jordan Phil Hester, Frank Barbiere, Marguerite Bennett, Amy Chu, Jim Starlin, and Brian Stelfreeze.
AfterShock Comics launched in April of this year, headed up by former DC and Marvel editor Mike Marts. Regarding the announcement, Marts had this to say;
“When we launched AfterShock, our mission was to attract the best comic book creators in the business, and we’re beyond excited to develop original projects with these industry leaders. But it’s only the beginning.”
With such a strong team of creators on board, it’s safe to say AfterShock is off to a great start. While no titles were officially announced, both Marts and Ennis express genuine excitement about this new creator-owned venture, and it’s hard not to share they’re excitement. Could this be the spiritual revival of “Vertigo” that we’ve all been waiting for? Only time will tell, but for all things related to AfterShock, SDCC 2015, and comics and general, keep following Multiversity Comics.
