AfterShock Comics have announced they will be launching a new YA imprint called Seismic Press, with the first title being a graphic novel called “Rainbow Bridge,” by writers Steve Orlando and Steve Foxe, and artist Valentina Brancati.

“Rainbow Bridge” will focus on a boy named Andy who has recently lost his best friend, a dog called Rocket. The pair will be reunited after Andy accidently opens the Rainbow Bridge to the pet afterlife, while visiting Rocket’s grave on the day before he starts high school. Together, Andy and Rocket will search for the latter’s lost littermate in the afterlife.

Mike Marts, the Editor-in-Chief of AfterShock Comics, said “Rainbow Bridge” and the titles that will follow shall have the same “high-quality approach to content, talent selection and presentation,” and intention of “[pushing] readers out of their comfort zones and [defying] expectations” as the publisher at large, “but extend it to a much wider audience and demographic,” namely that of children aged 12 to 18.

“Rainbow Bridge” is the only currently announced original title for the imprint, though more is expected in 2022, while previously published AfterShock series, like “The Lollipop Kids” by Adam and Aidan Glass, Diego Yapur, DC Alonso, and Sal Cipriano, and “Oberon” by Ryan Parrott, Milos Slavkovic, and Charles Pritchett, are both set to be repackaged by the imprint.

Seismic Press will launch with the publication of “Rainbow Bridge” in August.
