AHOY Comics have announced three new series as part of their fourth publishing wave set to be released next year. The new titles consist of “Billionaire Island,” “Ash & Thorn,” and “Penultiman.”

“Billionaire Island” is by writer Mark Russell, artist Steve Pugh (both of whom worked on DC’s “The Flintstones”), colorist Chris Chuckry, and letterer Rob Steen. The six part series will tell the story of billionaires converging on a private island they created, Freedom Unlimited (FU Island), in order to wait out the end of the world. In a statement, Russell said the island is on international waters and free from being subject to the law, so it is a “nightmarish police state for anyone on the island who crosses them.” He closed by stating the series poses the question “how do we save the world when all its resources are partying offshore?” “Billionaire Island” #1 will be released in March.

The second series, “Ash & Thorn” will be by writer Mariah McCourt (“Stitched”), artist Soo Lee (“Mine!”), colorist Pippa Bowland and letterer Rob Steen. Jill Thompson will be providing the covers for the series. “Ash & Thorn” will follow see an octogenarian, Lottie Thorn, who is chosen to save humanity from the apocalypse, with help from her trainer, Lady Peruvia Ashlington-Voss. In a statement, McCourt said “Everyone knows Chosen Ones are supposed to be young and extremely expendable, but even the Universe makes mistakes sometimes.” “Ash and Thorn” #1 will be released in April.

The third and final series, “Penultiman,” comes from the creative team of writer Tom Peyer (“The Flash”), artist Alan Robinson (“Planet of the Nerds”), colorist Lee Loughridge and letterer Rob Steen. The series sees the titular character arrive in 2020 to be considered the “godlike epitome of beauty, power, and compassion” despite being exiled from the future for being regarded as a “brutish evolutionary throwback.” “Penultiman” #1 will be released in May.

Also set for release next year is the first collected edition of “Second Coming: Volume One” by Mark Russell, Richard Pace, Leonard Kirk, and Andy Troy. It will be released in comic shops on February 26 and followed by a bookstore release on March 10.
