After the first “season” of Al Ewing’s “The Mighty Avengers” wraps with the upcoming #14, Ewing and artist Luke Ross will be teaming up for a new #1: “Captain America and the Mighty Avengers.” Coming on the heels of the announcement that Sam Wilson – formerly known as the Falcon – would be taking over as Captain America, this book finds Wilson taking the lead on a team that also stars Luke Cage, Spider-Man, Monica Rambeau, and more.

Andrew Wheeler at Comics Alliance has a great interview with Ewing about the book, and I like a lot of what he has to say, particularly that this book will be like the first season, except it’s apparently going to 11.

“The vibe is…bigger. Louder. More. We’re established now — we can hit a little harder and go a little crazier. And once you read #13 and #14, you’ll see we’re already pretty crazy. It’s a slam-bang finish for the ages, true believer.”

I’m into a more bombastic Avengers comic, especially with Ewing’s excellent character work and Ross’s abilities at putting the human in the superhuman. This book sounds like a lot of fun, and you can expect the #1 to arrive in November.
