While not reported at ECCC, reports are festering online that Alan Moore has announced a brand new book to be released in July of this year.

Reports are conflicting so far, but apparently the genesis of the book is in direct response to DC creating more “Watchmen” stories. While Moore has let his displeasure of the move be known, his apparent method of vengeance is to return to comics with a brand new “Justice League”-esque parody book, lampooning every main DC trope available in a fashion similar to “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,” albeit with more emphasis on humor.

Entitled “Legal Squad” and apparently starring characters like Awesomeman, Ratman, Super Cool Power Woman, Speedman, Water Guy (the “too cool to be popular” character), Emerald Beacon and Token Bionic Character, the book will be written in the same “balls to the wall”/style over substance style that the current “Justice League” title has gained acclaim for. The Legal Squad will fight for truth, justice and the Capitalist way against such dynamic villains as Smart Bald Industrialist and Angryclown who form their own Unlegal Squad, as well as featuring a direct confrontation with Starrfishhh and Derksierd.

There will also be plenty of cameos from familiar-esque characters, such as Saturnian Sirsnooper, The Archer Formerly Known As Falconpupil and Captain Marvel. Moore also makes a note that, in order to help reflect on DC, there will be little to no women involved, and when there are women they will be inserted as sexual figures in absurd poses because “that’s what sells books.”

It seems a bit on-the-nose for Moore, but apparently the entire project is created to fly directly in the face of DC in such an unflattering way because “no fucks are given.”

Early reports, although largely unconfirmed, apparently report that Rob Granito will be the artist of the series, who sites the current run of “Justice League” as his main source of swiping inspiration.

There are no reports as to where the book will be housed yet, but we’ll let you know more as we find it out.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
