AfterShock Comics have announced “All Night & Every Day,” a horror ‘One-Shock’ by writer Ray Fawkes, artist Andrea Frittella, colorist Sara Colella, and letterer Matt Krotzer. The 48-page Prestige format comic will follow Michaela, a grieving introvert who is dragged out by her friends to a party that turns out to be stuck in a neverending loop, that won’t end even in death. “Now she must navigate the labyrinth of the legendary Banquet Hideous all on her own and learn its terrible secrets before she is consumed forever!”
Fawkes describes the comic’s inspirations as being filmmakers Ari Aster (Midsommar) and David Lowery (The Green Knight), and author J.G. Ballard (Crash, High Rise), but also “not that I want anyone I know to get upset with me, but almost every party I’ve ever been to had a part in shaping this book. Every time someone’s said ‘No, you have to stay’ or I’ve thought ‘Isn’t there something better I should be doing with my time?'”
He states the comic’s “for all the people who’ve ever found themselves stuck at a party they hated. Of course the party in this book is a very special kind of celebration — but I won’t spoil what that is before the book comes out! I’m excited because this is an idea I’ve been working on for quite some time, and it’s really something unique. Andrea Fritella has brought the story to jaw-dropping, stylish life, and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
Fritella is an Italian artist best known for writing and illustrating “Borgata Gordiani,” an award-winning time travel story. Fawkes says “You HAVE to see Andrea Fritella’s artwork on this. He’s on his way to super-stardom, if there’s any justice in this business.”
“All Night & Every Day” will be released on December 14 for $7.99, with a main cover by Fritella, and an incentive cover by Fawkes. Head to AfterShock’s website for a preview in the meantime.
