Alpha Flight Returns – Still Dead

Last week, we had a brief laugh at Tom Brevoort reiterating that Alpha Flight was staying dead. We assumed that this meant we’d never see them again, but with yesterday’s Dead Avengers announced we should have seen this coming: Alpha Flight is coming back, albeit as dead people, for Chaos War.

The last time we saw Alpha Flight, they were dead in the snow in New Avengers. It looks like Jim McCann is bringing them back for Chaos War. With art by Reilly Brown (Heroic Age: Prince of Power), Chaos War: Alpha flight features “Guardian, Vindicator, Shaman and Marrina all shuffled back onto the mortal coil and joining up with surviving teammates against the Chaos King’s threat. As it turns out, coming back to life isn’t always the greatest thing to happen to a dead person.”

Don’t get your hopes up too much though – this is just a one-shot, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be sticking around much longer after the show is over. It’s up in the air right now it seems, but for now you’ll be getting the original Byrne Alpha Flight back in the scene to deal with a “classic Alpha Flight foe,” and if they want to save his life or not. Hmm.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
