Sorry to disappoint anyone who had money on Dan Slott’s “Superior Spider-Man” being Alpha, the kid from “Amazing Spider-Man” #692 who ended up getting powers and became Spidey’s understudy for a couple issues before losing his powers, because USA Today has revealed that writer Joshua Hale Fialkov and artist Nuno Plati are giving the kid his own five-issue miniseries in February.

With the miniseries comes the return of some of Alpha’s powers and move from Manhattan to Pittsburgh, PA. “He’s been demoted from this awesome life to nothing. All the cool stuff is gone,” Fialkov said about his decision to take Alpha to his home town.

“He was a freak and then he became famous, and now he’s infamous and powerless essentially as far as the world knows. He’s that creepy kid who used to be on a sitcom when he was 5.”
