Revealed in a magazine clipping posted on Robert Kirkman’s twitter, it appears that his latest series “Thief of Thieves” will be seeing it’s own television adaptation on AMC.

The series stars the character Conrad Paulson, also known as the international thief Redmond, who decides to retire from the business. When he is unable to do so, however, he decides only to stiel what has already been stolen by other thieves. The book is written by Nick Spencer and illustrated by Shawn Martinborough, and has received fairly universal praise from us so far, with the first two issues selling out and a new issue on stands today. The show adaptation would see Kirkman as a producer along with David Alpert and Chris Eglee, the team behind the first season of “the Walking Dead.” Eglee will serve as the showrunner if the show is picked up for a series.

“Thief of Thieves” also has the unique predisposition as being a comic written in the style of a TV show; Kirkman created the concept, but then brought in Nick Spencer to write the first arc, with additional writers for future arcs yet to be revealed. It will assumedly translate quite easily to television.

AMC has yet to pigeon hole their content either, with shows like “Mad Men” (an advertising agency currently in the 1960’s) and “Breaking Bad” (science teacher turns meth dealer) alongside “The Walking Dead,” and “The Walking Dead” has received fairly universal acclaim of it’s own (almost). It’ll be interesting to see where “Thief of Thieves” falls within their line-up, should it be picked up for a full series.

Look for more information on the series as we get it.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
