AMC’s “The Walking Dead” Hires Future Former Showrunner Scott Gimple

Many wondered who would follow up Glen Mazzara (who replaced Frank Darabont) as the showrunner for AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” a role that is only matched by Hogwarts’ Defense of Dark Arts teachers in terms of huge acclaim and short lifespans. We now know, thanks to Deadline, as staff writer (and current Punisher: Nightmare scribe) Scott Gimple will be taking over apparently during the remaining season three episodes (which I assumed was wrapped already).

Here’s hoping he has more of a lifespan and gets the chance to really make his presence felt. “The Walking Dead” could be a great show, and I thought it was becoming one under Mazzara. Let’s hope he keeps that momentum going.
