From ComicBook.com, fan favorite character, America Chavez, is getting a new miniseries in June entitled “America Chavez: Made in the USA,” written by Kalinda Vazquez (writer and producer of Runaways and Once Upon a Time) with art by Carlos Gomez (“The Amazing Mary Jane”). The new series focuses on the origins of America Chavez and is meant to be an invitation for new readers who want to learn more about the character. Sara Pichelli is providing the cover art for issue #1.

Vazquez says, “From the moment America Chavez was introduced into the Marvel Universe I was a fan. It’s such an honor to have the opportunity to tell an America story, and I couldn’t be more excited to have been invited onto this project. Working with Sana Amanat, Annalise Bissa and the rest of the editorial team at Marvel has been so fantastic and I can’t wait for the world to see the incredible artwork that Carlos Gomez has created for this book! In this series, America is going to be tested as she’s never been tested before, and the challenges that she’ll have to face will only force her to pull from even deeper from that well of strength and ferocity that we know lies within her.”

America Chavez was originally created by writer Joe Casey and artist Nick Dragotta, appearing in “Vengeance” #1 in 2011 under the moniker Miss America. America was a team member of the lauded Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie run of “Young Avengers” and G. Willow Wilson’s “A-Force.” The character has also appeared in Al Ewing’s “Ultimates” run in the post-‘Secret Wars’ era, and received her first solo series entitled “America” by Gabby Rivera and Joe Quinones. Her most recent appearance has been in Kelly Thompson and Stefano Caselli’s “West Coast Avengers.”

“America Chavez: Made In The USA” #1 releases in June.
