It was a sad day when “American Vampire” went on hiatus, depriving us of one of Scott Snyder’s best written works as well as a monthly dose of sweet, sweet Rafael Albuquerque artwork. A very sad day.

But today is a happy day, a very happy day, because now we can report that “American Vampire” is coming back! This June, Vertigo will release the one-shot “The Long Road To Hell” (as revealed on MTV Geek) a new book set in the “American Vampire” universe that is co-written by Snyder and Albuquerque that also comes with Tony Moore covers. The book will star Travis Kidd, the vampire hunter from ‘Death Race’, in a story featuring “two young lovers, a stolen car and the open road.” The only problem is, the two young lovers are vampires! And it’s up to Kidd to take them down!

Can Kidd stop their bloody rampage through the American Heartland? Probably. But we won’t know for sure until the one-shot hits on June 12th.

Expect this to politely tide over your own bloody thirst for new “American Vampire” until the series comes back later this year.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
