Well, ok. I don’t know if the sole reason Angel is coming to Dark Horse is to reunite with his sometimes girlfriend. But regardless of that, Angel is in fact coming back to Dark Horse for it’s future runs next year.
In the Buffy: Riley One-Shot out today, the letters column teased that Angel would be coming to Dark Horse next year in time for the launch of Season 9 of Buffy. This confused fans as the book has been published over at IDW for some time, featuring Bill Willingham as the author and staying in canon to Angel’s story (or so I’m told). There was general conflict with the timeline events when the Big Bad of Season 8 was revealed to have been Angel all along, though IDW did say that this would be addressed in their comic. Fans have been commenting online with mixed responses, but IDW’s editor-in-chief Chris Ryall has simply responded with “We’ll be addressing this soon, so please bear with us. Thanks, for your patience and your support.”
Take a look to the right at the full letter’s column in the back of the issue, via Robot 6. The success of Season 8 of Buffy has been pretty epic, so it’s no surprise that Dark Horse wants to get Angel back to their territory. What this means for IDW’s comic as well as the overall Buffy continuity questions is yet to be determined, though.
