As BOOM! Studios’ first “Buffy” and “Angel” crossover, ‘Hellmouth,’ comes to a close, the Buffyverse is preparing for its next period with ‘Ring of Fire.’ Bryan Edward Hill and Gleb Melnikov’s ongoing Angel-centric series BOOM! Studioswill welcome another supposedly reformed vampire onto the team, as it is being rebranded “Angel & Spike” with February’s issue #9.
With Angel seemingly missing in the wake of his encounter with Drusilla and the Hellmouth, Team Angel will welcome a new leader – Spike – to help them push back against the evils of Los Angeles. “Betrayal, heartache, and violence are what the new Team Spike have to look forward to in the post-‘Hellmouth’ landscape we’re calling ‘Ring of Fire,’” said Jeanine Schaefer, the Executive Editor of BOOM! Studios. “You know, all the good stuff! They think evil has landed in Los Angeles, but what they’ll find is that it’s been there all along, and the source they discover is staggering.”
“Angel & Spike” will pit the two against the supernatural law firm Wolfram & Hart, with each issue subtly tying in with “Buffy” and “Hellmouth” to hint at the future of Sunnydale and beyond.
Angel & Spike #9 will be available to purchase on February 26, 2020, with cover art by Dan Panosian, and variant covers by Vanesa R. Del Rey, Scott Buoncristiano, and Jonas Scharf.
