Just like the one we told you about earlier today, DC has announced on the Source blog that they will begin releasing a series of Annuals (only eight months after the New 52 was launched) in the form of giant-sized comics containing more theoretical bang for your buck, with the second entry into the series being that of Multiversity favorite Animal Man.

Written by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Timothy Green II (and a cover by series artist Travel Foreman), the Animal Man Annual is an oversized issue detailing the history of violence between the Red, the Green and the Rott – the three entities currently seen battling it out (kind of) in the pages of Animal Man and Swamp Thing. Of course, for those watching the battle unfold, you’re in luck, because this 48-page annual not only offers a primer on the history of these three planetary entities, but also acts as a prelude to the upcoming crossover between Animal Man and Swamp Thing that Lemire and Snyder have been planning for some time now, entitled “Deadworld.”

The Animal Man Annual comes out in May, with “Deadworld” assumedly to follow soon after.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
