Marvel has announced four new ‘Annihilation: Scourge’ one-shots for December, in addition to “Annihilation: Scourge Omega” #1 to close out the event. Each one-shot is headlined by a particular Marvel cosmic character, namely Beta Ray Bill, the Fantastic Four, Nova, and the Silver Surfer. Matthew Rosenberg is leading the event, writing November’s “Annihilation: Scourge Alpha” #1, “Annihilation: Scourge – Nova” #1, and the “Omega” issue.

In an interview with the writer on Newsarama, Rosenberg stated that ‘Annihilation: Scourge’ is a tribute to the original ‘Annihilation,’ and will feature Annihilus in a different way from what readers are used to seeing: “Annihilus plays a pretty huge role in this. It is sorta named after him, of course. But he is NOT the threat here… This new threat has him scared and fighting for his life.”

Rosenberg also explained that Richard Rider would play a key role in the event, saying the series “follows the pride of Long Island – Rich Rider. He shows up in the ‘Alpha’ issue to set the stage, but he is sort of the main driving force of the event in some ways. That doesn’t mean we won’t see any other Novas. But this is a Rich story, for sure.”

Rosenberg is joined by several writers and artists for ‘Annihilation: Scourge.’ Juanan Ramirez, Ibraim Roberson, and Paul Davidson will be illustrating the “Alpha,” “Nova,” and “Omega” issues respectively. “Annihilation: Scourge – Silver Surfer” #1 will be written by Dan Abnett and illustrated by Paul Davidson; “Annihilation: Scourge – Fantastic Four” #1 will be written by Christos Gage and illustrated by Diego Olortegui; and “Annihilation: Scourge – Beta Ray Bill” #1 will be written by Michael Moreci and illustrated by an artist who will be named at a later time.
