Today on DC’s The Source we were given our first look at the upcoming twice-monthly series Brightest Day from Geoff Johns, Peter Tomasi, and Fernando Pasarin. They revealed the cover to issue #2 in specific, which shows a resurrected Arthur Curry and the Black Lantern version of him reflected in the water.

Needless to say, it’s a shocker.

Ongoing theories as to what would follow Blackest Night have been that its finale will bring about the return of fallen heroes, such as Curry and J’onn J’onzz (aka Martian Manhunter). With Curry’s confirmation, I wouldn’t be surprised if DC’s big announcement tomorrow involved another return from the afterlife. As Geoff Johns said to The Source:

“Brightest Day’ is about second chances. I think it’s been obvious from day one that there are major plans for the heroes and villains from Aquaman to take center stage in the DC Universe, among many others, post-Blackest Night. ‘Brightest Day’ is not a banner or a vague catch-all direction for the DC Universe, it is a story. Nor is ‘Brightest Day’ a sign that the DC Universe is going to be all about ‘light and brighty’ superheroes. Some second chances work out…some don’t.”

We’ll see what we find out tomorrow, and we’ll have an update as soon as it comes. For those that are big fans of Aquaman, your dreams have come true. Curry is back and looking better than ever thanks to David Finch. Now get Ted Kord back in the picture and then we’ll be talking.
