As of today, Archie Comics will release on comiXology Unlimited the same day they are available in print. Starting with “Sabrina: Something Wicked” #3, all new issues from the publisher will be available on the digital comic subscription service at no extra cost. Archie will also be making their entire library available on Unlimited, with “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” “Afterlife With Archie,” “Jughead’s Time Police,” and tie-ins to Riverdale on the CW available on the service as well.

In the decades since its founding, Archie has sold over two billion comics worldwide in several genres, including humor, action-adventure and superhero comics. Not only will comics starring Riverdale’s “core four” (Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica) be available with Unlimited, but other characters from the Archieverse. This includes not only Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but Josie and the Pussycats, Li’l Jinx, and the Dark Circle Comics superhero characters: these include The Black Hood, The Fox, The Shield, Sam Hill, and more.

Archie, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, is the first publisher to make their archives available on Unlimited. While the move is unprecedented, the company does have a history of embracing digital formats. In 2010, they were the first publisher to release day-and-date on comiXology: they were also the first to release motion comics on music streaming service Spotify in 2018, and last July, they announced plans to produce a podcast series with Spotify starring their classic characters.

ComiXology Unlimited features over 25,000 comics, graphic novels and manga for $5.99 a month. Archie books, including the just released “Sabrina: Something Wicked” #3, are still available a la carte for non-subscribers.
