The following is basically just a rumor courtesy of Bleeding Cool. You can take it as truth for what’s to come, or not. Completely up to you. However, considering how often Bleeding Cool is right, it’s probably safe to say that this could have some inkling of truth to it.
As it stands, according to an unnamed but “reputable” source, in 2011/2 post-Fear Itself, the X-Men are going to be dividing in two in a similar Xavier/Magneto dichotomy. The Xavier-esque team will be led by the current leader of the X-Men Cyclops, and the rest of the team will go with Wolverine. If the source is correct, this would seem to imply that Uncanny X-Men and Uncanny X-Force are probably going to be where these actions are felt, meaning Rick Remender and Kieron Gillen – the scheming individuals that they are – are probably behind this. What’s more is that the story dealing with Wolverine’s X-Men will be written by Jason Aaron in a four-issue mini-series that is extra sized and features a different “celebrity” guest artist per issue.
Well, this certainly sounds plausible. Given the nature of the X-Books and their love of synergy, I wouldn’t put this past Marvel to see it happen. Those following certain writers on Twitter during the Marvel Summit will have noticed that people mentioned Rick Remender being full of ideas, and given how Uncanny X-Force #4 ended and how Jason Aaron’s Wolverine is going it seems completely plausible that Wolverine would go off and do his own thing.
Either way, for now it’s simply a rumor. This may come down the pipeline, albeit perhaps slightly differently, but it may not. So believe at your own discretion.
