While we don’t cover a lot from the video game world, I must admit: one of my favorite current series is the Assassin’s Creed series. While at first I just loved it because Kristen Bell was in it, the first one caught me so off guard that I became an addict, and the second one held me incredibly captive. It’s just such a rich blending of history and mythology coupled with a thrilling conspiracy aspect that Dan Brown would kill to come up with. And now, with no new Assassin’s Creed game coming in 2011, we are instead treated to a new installment in comic book form.
The teaser video above shows us very little, but those who have been following Assassin’s Creed will recognize the above video detailing the Tunguska event to have been referenced at the end of Assassin’s Creed 1. If you’ve beaten the second game, then you’ll probably already have an idea of how this will tie in with the overall story of the series. The series, which deals heavily in conspiracies and multiple forms of assassins, has always left itself open to the idea that any moment in history could be elaborated on, and now we get our first Russian Assassin!
On top of that, the team behind the book is pretty incredible: Karl Kerschl and Cameron Stewart! That right there should be enough to convince anyone to want to read this comic, whether or not they are an Assassin’s Creed fan or not.
Beyond that we don’t know much, but what we do is certainly exciting. Those at Comic Con can attend a panel with Kerschl, Stewart, and Assassin’s Creed developers where more will be revealed. Until then, you can check out the initial press release here and don’t forget to check the video out above.
