If there was one thing you probably would’ve never expected to see on this website, it’s an Avril Lavigne music video. Today, that all changes.

Released online today (with a tip of the hat in the direction of Steve Morris for catching this first), Avril Lavigne’s music video for “Rock N’ Roll” has hit the web today and it is absolutely epic in its execution. While the song itself leaves something to be desired (it’s certainly not nearly as fun as the schizophrenic anthem of “Girlfriend”) and represents once again the strange shift that Lavigne’s career has taken while she attempts to remain relevant, the music video once again shows that Lavigne has a great sense of humor about her role in pop culture. From Wonder Years gags to Billy Zane appearances, it’s perhaps the most hilarious thing you will watch all day.

And because it is clearly comic-inspired to a point thanks to the inclusion of work by Lucas Culshaw, we can post about it for you today. I’d even go so far as to say that it seems to take pointers from “Tank Girl” and even “Shaolin Cowboy,” although your mileage may vary.

Either way, with “True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys” tearing it up on stands today, I’d say it’s only a matter of time before we get the “Punk Rock Avril vs The World” book as well.

Take a watch below and prepare to giggle:

You also have to love that opening self-deprecating piece of humor thrown in for those of you who can remember the epic hit single of 2002 when that was, to a very small group, the epitome of punk rawk. Memories.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
