Axe Cop is, without a doubt, the greatest thing that has ever come out of the internet. Not Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and all that garbage. No – it’s a cop with an axe and a killer mustache who knows the true power of aviators. It’s that bravado and charm that has launched Axe Cop to new heights of popularity, landing it a publishing deal and legions of fans if only a few short weeks of it’s premiere. That and the undeniable charm of a comic written by a five year old and illustrated by his older brother.
With Axe Cop’s one year anniversary coming up, it looks like a party will be held next week (a week from today, to be exact, on the 27th) at Meltdown Comics that will assuredly launch the title to even new heights. Why is that? Well, let’s take a look at what you can expect to see, straight from Axe Cop Dot Com:
- Malachai and Ethan will be present to sign books.
- A live panel discussion with creators Ethan and Malachai, as well as CHOP CAST hosts James Kennison and John Steinklauber.
- The PREMIER of the LIVE ACTION AXE COP short film by Australian fan Peter Muehlenberg of Episode One! (See image at the top of this article for how faithful it is).
- A short documentary on the making of an Ask Axe Cop episode by Eric Branscum
- The Axe Cop documentary by Nancy Oey will be filming, and a short clip from the work in progress will be shown.
- An AXE COP ART GALLERY featuring some favorite Axe Cop pieces as well as some never before seen. Prints will be for sale, and so will the special limited run Anniversary Print featuring every character from 2010.
- Malachai and Ethan will demonstrate the creation of an Axe Cop character live for the audience, and will also do a Q & A.
- FOOD! the Knock Out Taco Truck will be present to shove as many tacos in your mouth as you can handle without dying.
If you live anywhere near LA and somehow don’t go to this – for whatever reason – you hate comics. In fact, I’d go so far as to say you hate happiness. Hopefully the Live Action Axe Cop film will be put online after for the Internet to behold in all it’s glory.
Either way, congratulations to Ethan and Malachai and all the success that has come from 2010! Here’s to another year of Axe Cop-y goodness.
