At NYCC, it was teased that Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso would team up again for a new Vertigo book. If you somehow have never read 100 Bullets, they are the fantastic duo responsible for what is arguably one of the most important long running Vertigo titles that set a new standard and opened the door for large-scale crime and thriller books (to which you can now enjoy regularly with Vertigo’s new crime imprint). This weekend it was at Crack Bang Boom, it was announced what that book would be: Spaceman!
Now, we don’t know much about it. The full team, right down to the cover artist and editor, will be the exact same group that brought you 100 Bullets, so already there is some good news. Obviously the title Spaceman implies that it is science fiction, and the book will start as a nine issue series and continue beyond as a set of mini-series. The duo describe it as “speculative fiction” and compare it to Blade Runner, so one can assume good things.
We’ll let you know more as we’re told more, but for now I can only speculate positive things.
