Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern‘s cast just keeps getting better and better, as today Angel Bassett joined as Dr. Amanda Waller. SuperheroHype posted it earlier today, as well as suggesting that she may be introduced to grease the wheels on a possible Suicide Squad film.
This continues the trend of picking the best actor for the role as opposed to the best fit, as clearly the frequently ripped and very fit Bassett does not exactly look like a character known as “The Wall” (it’s not just her stern nature that earns her that nickname). As Matt Sturges just tweeted, “Angela Bassett is gonna have to eat a lot of sammiches in order to portray a convincing Amanda Waller. I’m just sayin’.” Still, I think she could nail the role given previous acting jobs, and Waller is a great character who could be very interesting on film.
